GIG: 28 Feb - The Searchers.
8pm. The Searchers are one of the few British "Mersey beat"
pop groups who are still going strong close to fifty years since their
formation in the early 60s, with two original members, John McNally
and Frank Allen, still headlining the group. The Searchers
exploded on the music scene in 1963 with their massive hit "Sweets For My
Sweet". Their record success continued with more hits, "Needles and Pins",
"Don't Throw Your Love Away", "Someday We're Gonna Love Again", "When You
Walk In The Room", "What Have They Done To The Rain", "Goodbye My Love" and

Purple Haze) - Fremantle Workers Club has re-opened with
live music on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. This is a great venue
for dancers, with a good dance floor. Food is very good and reasonably
priced. Good sound for the musos. A small cover charge of $2 for members
and $5 for non-members applies.
However, for just $20 you can join until June
30th 2012 and this INCLUDES social membership of the Swan Yacht Club
(another good venue for live music) as well as the Workers' Club. The

Shakedown is back- this time rockin' up a storm at the Indi Bar in Scarborough
- and once again we showcase the best of Perth's rockabilly culture in a
SHAKIN' night of wild sounds and twisted 50s glamour! Guest DJs will be
spinning rockin' tunes from 8.30pm and each band brings it's own flavour
of rockabilly action, from traditional 50s style through to voodoo rock n

evening winds up at about 10.00 pm. Tickets are now on sale. All

Pub Jive & Rock'n'Roll School
- The classes in
2012, explode into action on Sunday 22nd January. This year we will
have the privilege of dancing on a brand new dance floor. We kick off
with a Beginners Rock'n'Roll and Improver's Pub Jive. All classes are
still $12.00. This year also, will see the full time introduction of
Ballroom Classes with (Ballroom Moves) ie Sue, every Monday night from
7.30 till 10, starting on Monday 23rd January. It commences with
Beginners Slow Rhythm and Quickstep and Improver's Cha Cha and
Tangoette. Classes are $12.00 per person per night. In 2012 we also
intend to increase the number of Dances held at the Manning Bowling
Club.
There will be a Monthly Ballroom Dance held on the 3rd Saturday of
every Month. This is simply to satisfy the appetite of Ballroom
fanatics. We will still have our very popular 6 weekly End of Course
Dances. This will result, we hope, in a program of events that will
keep even the most ardent dancer with a busy schedule, for the whole
of 2012. Finally, Sylvia and I hope to see every body at the Welcome
Back Dance on Saturday 21st January. We will have "Full Circle"
playing on the night.
