Perth Rocks Policies
Focus of the website:
Perth Rocks is a '50s and '60s rock'n'roll and rockabilly website. As a result, we generally only choose to feature dance schools, bands and events where the CORE business is '50s and '60s rock'n'roll and rockabilly. Otherwise we'd be inundated with bands who have five appropriate songs on their song list; or dance schools teaching all forms of ballroom, or latin, dance of which jive, or rock'n'roll, is a very small component; or events where rock'n'roll plays an insignificant part.
There may be times we choose to list these bands, schools or events, but there will generally be rock'n'roll reasons behind our choice.
General policies:
1. What goes on the website
1.1 Only stuff that fits our CORE business.
1.2 We don't trawl the web for data. We have full lives and provide this service free of charge. As a result, we generally only put up data that is sent in. We also don't guarantee we'll put up data sent in, if it is in an incompatible format. To make our lives easier we ask you to follow these guidelines when submitting texts and sending in emails: generally use Verdana 10pt font and avoid fancy formatting (eg. symbols, etc don't work through Frontpage and have to be re-typed) - bold and italics are fine.
2. Accuracy of data on the website
This service is provided free of charge, but not free from responsibility. We expect you to check the accuracy of your data on the website. We will generally tell you where your data has been placed on the website. You need to check it, as things may change when cutting and pasting, reformatting, or bringing text into line with the website style. Also we expect you to keep us informed of changes and cancellations. If you fail to do this we may choose to stop listing your band/events. People using the website expect a level of accuracy and timeliness. We don't want people driving across town, as we have, to cancelled gigs.
Publishing your feedback on the website:
Whilst we appreciate all feedback please note:
1. we cannot publish all feedback, and at times may need to edit it to ensure suitability for publishing on the web where it can be accessed by all people of all ages.
2. we will generally not publish feedback that does not contribute to discussion on topics relevant to our core business (as stated above - 50s and 60s Rock'n'Roll and Rockabilly), or is a personal attack, offensive, illegal, or contains clear factual errors.
Submitting photographs, posters and images for the website:
1. Legal issues
1.1 Only submit photographs, posters and images you have copyright ownership of.
1.2 Assure any people in the image/poster/photograph are aware what they were photographed for and what the image will be used for - displayed on the Perth Rocks website on the worldwide web.
If you submit an image/poster/photograph this is your responsibility.
2. Image quality and website size issues
2.1 In most circumstances, images that are out of focus, or poor quality, will not be featured on the website.
2.2 Posters that are not professional quality may not be featured on the website. At times some professional quality posters will also not be featured due to size constraints of the website. If we can't put your poster up immediately, we'll try and get it some prime time close to the event.
2.3 To make our lives easier, where possible, submit images cropped to size with height as follows: "Recent Events" photo height 400 pixels; and poster height 500 pixels.
If you don't have the skills/software to do this we're generally happy to do this, if we have time.
We don't guarantee we'll use all images submitted, so be sure people photographed don't believe you guarantee they'll be on the website. We have a limit to the size of the website and this determines what we can, and do, feature on a daily basis.
