THE REDCLIFFE PICTURE PALACE
VINTAGE AUSSIE MOVIES

The Redcliffe Picture Palace shows predominently early Australian
films made before 1960, although our holdings of general films
and documentaries is extensive.
A small museum of early film equipment is also housed in
the theatre, as well as an extensive archive of film. Film to
Video services are available for 8mm, super 8mm, 16mm and 35mm,
all at reasonable costs. As well a film repair service is available
and the Picture Palace operates a significant library of stock
footage of Queensland dating from before 1930 to about 1990.
We operate a public matinee on Sundays at 1.00pm - generally
showing about one hour of shorts, an intermission of about 20
minutes, and a feature film, with the program finishing at about
4pm - cost is $7.00 per person, including tea/coffee and biscuits
during intermission.
Our main purpose is catering for groups of 20 to 50 persons
with either a morning show at 10.00am, or an afternoon show at
1.30pm or 2.00pm. These shows last about 2 to 2 1/2 hours and
work in well with bus groups wishing to take in a full day on
the Redcliffe Peninsula.
Other attractions that fit in well with a show at the Picture
Palace is a morning visit to The Cooperage (not available afternoons),
a local walk/drive heritage tour, Pelican feeding at either Pelican
Park Clontarf, or at Morgans Sea Food at Scarborough. There are
several places to have lunch from the inexpensive at several
venues in the main shopping centre or the RSL, Morgans takeaway
seafood at Scarborough, or Sam's Seafood on Suttons Beach, to
venues such as the famous Fishbowl at the Redcliffe Seabrae Hotel,
where a retro 1950s/60s fashion show is conducted daily. Bus
groups can also avail themselves, at no cost, of a tour guide
from the Redcliffe Visitor Information Centre at Pelican Park,
by prior arrangement.
