Julie in Autumn

During a shoot earlier this year (the mermaid image), we discovered that working with time and tide is fraught with difficulty, and prone to problems through not being able to order up a convenient set of tide and wind schedules.

Older & wiser as a result, the next outdoor shoot was planned to be far less risky - just wait for a vineyard to turn into autumn colors, pick a nice sunny autumn day, and away we go. Vineyard selected, owner keeping an eye on the colors for us. Everything under control. Then disaster - at only the yellow stage, all the leaves decided to fall off. There goes the autumn vineyard for another year!

So - Plan-B was organised instead. Heat the studio up, shift inside, and paint the autumn leaves anyway.

Julie showed exquisite timing by giving up her day job the day before this shoot - so a couple of quick phone calls, and we had a shoot planned.

As the painting progressed, with the CD player in the background, and the espresso coffee being supplied regularly (Bill makes a mean coffee), it occurred to me that it was probably just a touch more comfortable than that vineyard would have been?

Thanks

Thanks to Julie - for being a punctual, patient and uncomplaining model. (Julie has a portfolio on the web.)

Thanks to Bill Poon for the photography, the nice warm studio, the regular supply of espressos - and wearing the art director hat.
