We had a little drama before even getting started. Several days before, I bought a pair of white knickers, and painted them Ferrari red (yeah, I know, the flash penetrates the fabric and they don't look the right color in the photos). I also mentioned that it's a good idea for the model not to wear any underwear just prior to a shoot, to avoid elastic marks, etc. which take time to fade.
When I unpacked my gear to set up for the demo - shock, horror! - I'd left the knickers at home. Frantic phone call home and pleading message left on the answering machine for long-suffering wife to mount a rescue mission and deliver the missing item.
Meanwhile Cathi had arrived, and I explained we had a small glitch in the proceedings but - not to worry - if all else failed we could just paint her in her own gear. The look of shock told the story. She'd followed my request to the letter! No knickers!
In a masterful piece of timing, Anita, our volunteer pit-crew for the day said "Can I get you guys anything?".
We just asked for a coffee.....
