This is a nice piece of lateral thinking by a magazine publisher and a race team manager:
The plan was to use, as a cover picture on the cycling magazine "Totally Bitumen", an image of top Australian cyclist David McKenzie, wearing the racing outfit for the new itNova.com race team. Small problem though ... the jersey was still being manufactured, and wouldn't be ready in time for the magazine deadline.
This is where the lateral thinking occurred, and I got a call to see if painting David into the suit was an option.
Next day, after some late-night emailing of sketches, etc. we all turned up for the paint and shoot session. After the painting was done, it was time for the shoot, so David took off on his racing cycle to visit Albert Park (scene of the Australian Formula One Grand Prix - and a popular training area for serious cyclists). I drove down there with the team manager to wait for David to arrive - but he was already there. (Must have been the streamlined outfit that accounted for the speed?)
Anyway - here is the cover of the "Summer '02" edition of Totally Bitumen:
