Radiogirl came out of my speakers one day and started a conversation with me that continues on a never ending quest to create great dance floor anthems and to spread a bit of peace and happiness to the world through other endeavors.

Radiogirl runs this poor writer ragged with her diva demands about setting up a clothing line to showcase her wise but sometime bent attitude to the world. I suggested t/shirt slogans she scoffed at the idea but I gradually brought her round to realising that we had no money to create orange and purple plastic creations the size of rubber bands {which I then pointed out that we could probably just use really big elastic bands on anorexic models} But I digress.

Radiogirl was not amused.

She then sent me on the thankless task of creating an extravaganza of a video for her first song that's being released on Foghorn Records label in conjunction with Eyelash records on May 16th 2005.

The album is INNER CITY BEATS 2.

THE SONG IS AVATARA.

The budget for the video is $38.60

plus a jar of old one cent pieces that Radiogirl dug up from the backyard last winter.{why she was doing that in the middle of winter is anyone's guess}.

So the quest for the perfect video begins. This thankless tasks begins with pleading with the cameraman Director{sorry co-director}Radiogirl has finale say on all the footage that will be shot for the video.

Saints preserve us.This shoot will be one hell of a ride.

This amazing man is the owner of Torpedo video in Victoria. He's seen it and done it all.Plus he is a relative of mine so he's doing it for free. I have the lead characters in this Dance hall drama lined up.{More relatives} and all but 1 location.{Update you on all this after the shoot.} If we manage to get through this with either our sanity or health intact it will be a miracle.

Well by now you are probably all wondering who the hell is this Radiogirl and what she's all about.

Here is the best approximation that I could come up with whilst trying to conduct a semi cohesive interview with Radiogirl herself in May 2005:

J. People have said that you sport an an unusual Look. What do you say to your critics that think your a figment of somebody's imagination ?

RADIOGIRL. Pardon

J. The fact that you have a radio for a head.

RADIOGIRL.Sure I have a radio for a head bit it's the best radio you are ever going to come across .I have 7.1 digital surround with twin sub woofers and double tweeters in perfect harmony to the deepest hardest bass you will ever hear. When I redline the treble I can attract a herd of rampaging teenage girls from 100 metres.I have a 25 stack cd player satellite, digital and analogue radio receptor.Mp3, internet, and mobile phone built in .I have a automatic erase button for anyone who dares to try and pass off pirated material in my cd interface.

J. Do you have any presets on your radio ?

RADIOGIRL.I can't tell you that its a secret.

J. How did you come into being ?

Radiogirl. It just happened one day I was just radio waves in this writers radio. She was listening to triple J with Mel in the morning and Whoosh before I knew it I was standing in her living room {scared the crap out of me}. The decor was abismal. After she recovered we sat down and had a long talk about why I was here. I have been living in her spare bedroom ever since. I can't come out of her flat as you can imagine! People don't normally walk down the streets of Sydney with a fully decked out radio for a head. But every now I sneak out and then I sit in the corners of nightclubs with a black sheet draped over my body and plug myself in to the clubs sound system and party all night. Couple of hoons tried to steal me one night .I kicked them so hard they were screaming like Jimmy Barnes during a concert. It was great fun.

J. THE ABOVE STATEMENT DOES IN NO WAY PORTRAY THE EVENTS THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED THAT DAY IT'S ALL HERESAY AND INUENDO {my decor is not abysmal.}

I quickly ended the interview as I had to pop down the shops to pick up milk and bread. I promise to attempt to interview Radiogirl again in the near future.

Well now you know a little more about Radiogirl and she asks you to go out and buy

Inner city beats 2.

RADIOGIRL supports Australian music so should YOU.
