oz-scouts Beena!
Welcome Home

General Information.

The 9th Caulfield Cub Scout Pack is a section of the International Scouting Movement aimed at 8 to 10 year old boys and girls.  The Pack consists of a number of "sixes" or groups of children who belong to a named group such as Red Six, Black Six, Grey Six, Gold Six.  Typically a Pack consists of four sixes and a number of Adult Leaders who plan and supervise the various activities.  All Pack activities are designed so that the individual Cub's physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential is achieved.  The now well-known Scout Badge system is used to mark the Cub's milestone achievements and give them a sense of pride and progress.

The 9th Caulfield Cub Scout group is located in the David Jefferson Memorial Hall, at 20 Ricourt Ave in Murrumbeena, Victoria, Australia.

Currently the Cub Pack has a total of 18 youth members and 4 adult leaders.  Each week the pack meeting is supported by two parents who are rostered on to assist in the activities that the Cubs undertake as part of the program.

The Cub Pack meets each Monday night from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm.

Please use the 'Pack Archive' link at the left in the menu stack to have a look at some of the activities that the Cubs have been up to recently.  9th Caulfield's leaders try to maintain an entertaining as well as educational activity plan so that the Cubs learn and have fun.  We must be doing something right as the Pack has almost always maintained close to full membership.

The 9th Caulfield Group's scarf is differentiated from the many other groups in Victoria not only by the colour combinations used but because we are one of the few groups that have an emblem on the scarf.  'Froggy' Beena! is shown below, in the pride of place at the large apex of our scarf where it can be clearly seen at all times while the scarf is being worn.

  Term Based Program.
The program for Term 4, 2003 is posted below.
We have a busy term coming up with a lot of extra-hall activities planned.  For this reason we will have quite a few Mondays without a Cub meeting.
All parents are encouraged to plan for the days that the pack will not be running a formal program. The leaders may be in attendance at the hall on these 'off' days to assist in any administrative functions, but Cubs should not be dropped off on these days.

All leaders This district activity is a great weekend's fun that will be held at Gilwell this year (as it was last year)  It is anticipated that some of the older Cubs may want to camp over at Gilwell with the Scouts and we will be canvassing their desire early in the term.  With the District Pack Holiday also being on this may be a great opportunity.
20th October No Cubs Due to Joti/Jota on the full weekend before we will not hold a regular meeting this night.

9th Caulfield's Scout Sections.
9th Caulfield runs several other sections of the Scout movement in addition to the Cub Scout section.

Joey Scouts (aged between 6 and 8) run each Monday from 5:45pm until 6:45pm.  This is immediately prior to the Cub section's times.  Many of the Joey Scouts have completed their time and have moved on into the Cub Scout Section.

As is always the case the Joey Scouts that enter the Cubs is offset by those Cubs who have progressed on to becomeing Scouts.

9th Caulfield Scouts have the distinction of being the first land based Scout Section to have ever won the Scout Seacraft and Seamanship Trophey.  This award was recieved in 2000.

9th's Scouts are extremely active.  They enjoy a complete range of Scouting Activities under the watchful eye of their adult supervisors.

As well as Joeys, Cubs and Scouts, 9th Caulfield runs a Venturers Troop for the youth members aged 15 to 18.
