My Boat

Fishing
by Riesel

The reel sings its exciting tune
The fish leaps from the boiling water
Muscles aching as i strain to control the angry creature

The rod bent to an extreme angle...will it break?
The hook embedded firmly into the jaw...will it straighten?
Sweat pouring from my brow...will i outlast the fish?

I pump the rod, up and down, retriving the line inch by inch
The fish eager for a slack line to cut
The drag releases more line, a minor victory for the fish

My heart beating fast in the thrill of the chase
The fishs' heart beating fast terrified of the chase
Both eager for an outcome, both scared of the outcome

Up and down, inch by inch slowly i win the battle
No more leaping, hardly fighting he is exhuasted
The battle lost, the battle won
