The hair & nails are extensions of the skin and are made up mainly of keratin.
Eccrine sweat glands are responsible for the regulation of body temperature, the skin plays a very important role in controlling body temperature.
Our skin acts as a barrier against toxins, bacteria and external injury.
Epidermis is the upper protective barrier of the skin and is the strongest layer.
The bulk of skin is called the Dermis which is made up of a fibrous protein, collagen and connective tissue.
Many millions of dead epidermal cells are shed every day, only to be continually replaced by new cells.
