India is known for it's variety of sweetmeats that are eaten as snacks or desserts. They are mainly made of milk and different varieties of flours. They are a very important part of an Indian cuisine because they have a significant role not only in the menu but even on religious occasions and festivals. During pujas (prayers) sweets are offered as offerings to god.
BADAM HALWA
Ingredients:
1 packet ground almonds
2 cups sugar
1/3 to 1/2 cup ghee
4 cardamoms
3/4 cup water
Cooking method:
Take a sauce pan add the ground almond and water and heat till the moisture evaporates and it starts forming a lump. Add sugar and start stirring on medium heat till 15 minutes until the mixture starts getting thick. Add the ghee little by little and continue stirring till the ghee get evaporated and the mixtures starts to get white and bubbly underneath remove from heat and let it cool. Can be served warm or cold.
