Foundations for faith

Faith is a belief in some thing you cannot see and/or understand but accept as being real

It can be a belief that something exists you cannot see such as God, angels and demons or the Bible being 100 % true or it can be a belief something will occur in the future such as facing God and having your life judged then being given your eternal reward.

In respect of God, faith is a belief He exists, is who He says He is and can do what He says He can do as well as believing He will reward those who wholeheartedly seek to serve Him.

How do we know what He wants us to believe? He tells us through His Bible. For us to believe what the Bible says it has to be 100 % accurate or you will not know what to believe in it. This means taking as real and truthful things like creation in 6 days, The virgin birth of Jesus, What happened a Calvary, all it says about demons, heaven and judgment as well as all God says about you and His relationship to you and His requirements of you.

Without a 100% belief in the Bible (what God says in regard to things) you do not have the faith God requires you to have as it is missing part of His revelation of what He wants you to believe in and do. Those who deliberately do not believe these things, serve a god different to the God of the Bible (by inference they serve Satan the only other god left to serve). Those who do not know these things or have not been given the truth to know them properly will be judged according to what they know.

In summary, we need to believe:

God exists

He has revealed Himself in the Bible

We need to believe The Bible 100% even though we may but fully understand it

We need to do what He asks us or advises us to do in it and

We need to believe it is worth believing all this and serving Him as He requires and asks us to do!

Rom 10:17. declares that faith is a result of believing what God says He has done so that we follow Him and do what He asks us to do.

This is the starting point of Faith.:

The belief that the Bible is 100 % accurate as it reveals God to us.

The belief that what He says about Himself in the Bible is completely true

The belief that what He says in the Bible that He has done is completely true:

That He created all in 6 days

That man fell into sin and only Jesus can save mankind from the consequences of this event

That Satan exists,

is a fallen angel

is the enemy who seeks to destroy all that God has made (including people) and

who wants to rule all in place of God

That God requires us to follow Jesus as our Lord if we want to belong to His Kingdom and be saved, obtaining eternal life with Him in Heaven

That we will give Him an account of our life and there God will determine the appropriate rewards for the way we obeyed Him or rejected His requirements of us.

To ignore any of these is disastrous to our eternal salvation.

If we do not believe God created the world in 6 days we call the Bible a liar so we cannot believe anything it says as we do not know where else it is not telling the truth, The God of the Bible created all things in 6 days or He could not be God. Not to believe all was created in 6 days is not to believe in the God of the Bible but in a lesser being. Once again the only alternative is the god Satan offers them which is in the form of Jesus but not Jesus but an imitation of Him. In a sense an Antichrist..

It also means you can believe in it what you want as God has not written The Bible but a lesser being has who claims to be god so you can basically do what you want and believe what you want as there is no real God to give account to for how you lived your life

If you do not believe Gen. 3, that there was a real fall into sin by Adam and Eve, Jesus becomes no longer necessary and you do not need the New Testament or parts of the Bible that prophecy about the coming of a Saviour for mankind.

Jesus was prophesied as God’s resolution for the problems created by this fall so if this fall did not happen then the prophecy about Jesus did not occur and all that follows as a result of this prophecy is irrelevant and/or a lie.

If you do not believe in the devil you call God a liar and will be at the devil’s mercy. If you believe he cannot harm a Christian then you ignore what Jesus asked you to do to him, and will be at his mercy. You will never live a victorious Christian life as Jesus requires it to be lived as according to you there is no battle. Without a battle you cannot have a victory.

To say our victory was won on the cross and we no longer need to fight Satan as he has been defeated at Calvary is to ignore the fact that Jesus asks you to continue to fight the battle for Him and that Satan still fighting the battle attacking us whether we admit it or not, and must fight back to stop his attacks.

If you do not have the problem of Satan attacking you then perhaps you are not a Christian or you are so powerless in the battle you are not a threat to him so there he has you where he wants you to be.

If you believe that once you are saved you can never lose your salvation you ignore the warnings in Rev 3: 5 and Heb. 6: 6-8, that you need do obey Jesus as Lord and that to deliberately not do so will lose you your salvation and you will never be able to obtain it again.

Salvation is a relationship based on faith (Jn 17:3, Heb 12:6) that must be maintained as all relationships are maintained through effort and the only way it is maintained is out of loving obedience to Jesus and through this, to the Father.

If you do not believe God will reward for your faithfulness then you will not believe it is worth following Him. You will serve Him out of fear of Judgment and not gratefulness for what He has prepared for you in heaven (salvation, rewards, eternal life etc.).

If you do not believe the Bible 100 % then it will cause problems with your faith and may even prevent your Salvation.

Anyone who truly wants to follow God is a fool if they do not study the Bible so that God can use it in their life to build them up, guide them, and mature then (through its application in life and its trials) so He can use them to serve Him and gain the rewards for this service.

The choice is yours, but to believe anything but what God says in His Bible is dangerous and will cause you nothing but grief and problems.
