How does Satan attack?
Satan attacks you by placing thoughts or voices in your mind, emotions
on your personality or feelings/sensations in your body. He
also tries to deceive you from the truth of a situation or distract you
from what Jesus wants you to do.
Thoughts
Satan will try to tell you things are different to what they really
are. He has to make you accept his lies and misquotes of the
truth, so he can use you for his purposes or hinder your being used by
Jesus. He has to convince you that something you have, you
really do not have. Or something you really do not have, you
have. If you are sane, he may suggest you have mental
problems etc. He will often suggest the opposite of what you
are in the hope you will believe him so he can then mould your thinking
in the way he desires you to think.
If you are saved he will throw thoughts into your mind that question
your salvation to the extent you will wonder if you are
saved. If you have a God given ministry he will make you
question that it is the correct one. Until you look elsewhere
for the ministry he suggests you should have.
He places negative emotions on you like anger, lust and sensual
pleasure to try and get you to sin or to distract you from the
self-control God desires you to have, so that you will sin and desire
the pleasures he has given you more than what God wants you to do.
He can place moods on you like fear, anxiety and depression so that you
do not have the joy of God, and wonder what is wrong with you that you
have these things for no apparent reason.
He tries to get you to believe God does not Love you so you despair of
anything good ever happening to you and give up hope of God helping you.
Remember, Satan does things subtly and will use doubt about things,
especially the things of God to have you start to question the truths
of God. If he can get you to accept his thoughts then he can
either use you or hinder your walk with Jesus.
He has to have you think a certain way so he can use it for his
purposes and uses all he can to do this. This is why when you
have anything negative in your mind or body, you are to cast it out in
Jesus’ Name to The Throne of Judgment and ask The Holy Spirit
to replace it.
If you do not accept his thoughts, he cannot succeed in causing you to
sin. So the best defence is to command the thoughts to go to
The Throne of Judgment in Jesus’ Name and ask The Holy Spirit
to take their place.
How then does Satan get authority over a person?
A person chooses to obey Satan and his suggestion and by this they give
him authority over them in that area. But Satan has
no real authority because he lost the war with Jesus, so he has to
convince people to obey him and while they give authority over an area
of their life to Satan they will not obey Jesus in this area.
It is authority by default as Jesus is no longer their ruler in this
area so Satan can take it over.
Who you follow is your master. Jesus said you cannot serve
two masters. If you accept Satan and his things in an area of
your life, then he is your master in that area for him to use you as he
desires in that area. If you give it to Jesus to be Lord of,
it is His to protect. What Jesus is Lord of cannot be used by
Satan because the authority of Jesus is greater than that of Satan.
It is only as the truth of their situation is understood by people and
they accept the truths of Jesus instead of the lies of Satan can they
be delivered from Satan and his assumed authority over them.
Deliverance is really telling Satan to leave because the person no
longer wants him in authority over them in any way because they want
Jesus to be Lord of their life. So Satan and all his workings
in them are to go in the Name of Jesus (the victor over Satan) to The
Throne of Judgment!
Satan really has no real authority over a person and can only control
in their life what they let him. He tries to blind them to
the truth of this so they believe his lies and delusions and become
more bound as a result of listening to him.
The fact he is the god of this world does not give him authority over
it. The people in the world give him any authority he has by
accepting what he offers them.
The fact he rules the world system does not give him authority to do
so. All authority belongs to Jesus and He has delegated some
of that to us. The reason Satan can rule so freely is because
Christians do not use the authority delegated them to destroy the works
of Satan and plunder his assumed kingdom. The church has not
done this which is why Satan still has the control he has these days.
When tempted
Satan will try to destroy you so you need to know how to fight him.
Satan cannot make you do anything you do not agree to do. He has to
deceive you into agreeing with what he wants you to do. So
the first line of defence is to reject what he offers. When
you are attacked ask The Holy Spirit if you are being attacked from
within you or outside of you. If attacked from within you
then deliverance is needed. If attacked from outside of you
then cast it out in Jesus’ Name to The Throne of Judgment to
be judged using steps 3-5 of The Five Steps.
It is probable to assume that deliverance is needed and use
The Five Steps. This way you always make sure any deliverance
needed occurs.
Most demons have names that are foreign to us. So it would be
nearly impossible to cast them out by their names. As long as
we can identify them by their activity then we can cast them in
Jesus’ Name to The Throne of Judgment to be judged.
If you are attacked in an area often or have a weakness you are having
trouble overcoming, then you probably have a need for deliverance in
that area.
Any emotion, sensation, attitude or feeling that is negative is not
from God; but is either a suggestion from a demon or a demon
playing on hurts or reactions (habits) in you.
Whenever I get any wrong thought sensation, feeling or emotion, I
command the demons behind it, using The Five Steps, to leave and go in
Jesus’ Name to The Throne of God to be judged.
In summary:
If the thought is from God, you obey it.
If the thought is from you, then make certain it is given to God or is
dealt with as He tells you to. There may also be a need for
deliverance in that area.
If the thought is from Satan, reject it using The Five Steps to deal
with him and his attack..
If the thought is external then the last three steps of The Five Steps
are only needed. But it is always safer to use the full five
steps just in case deliverance is needed.
The key is to take the thought, emotion or sensation captive to Jesus
(2 Cor 10:5). In other words, the demon placing the thought
in your mind, sensation or emotion is cast to in Jesus’ Name,
to The Throne of Judgment to be dealt with.
Just resisting the thought does little to remove the temptation as the
demon is always there waiting to attack you in that area. It
is casting out the source of it (the demons attacking) that removes the
attack and the temptation.
