Deliverance
talk 20 mn
The Ministry
of Jesus
Part of His ministry was setting the captives free (Salvation and
Deliverance Luke 4:18))
He told us to do deliverance and not to ask Him to do it (mark
16:17)
We are also told we are to destroy the works of Satan and his
workers.
Demons live in a person’s house (soul) but not their spirit as The Holy
Spirit lives in that. In a
non-Christian demons live in their spirit which is why they can become
possessed. Deliverance deals with
the demons in the sol of a Christian and salvation deals with the demons in the
spirit of a non-Christian.
The deliverance ministry was to be one of the signs of those that
followed Jesus.
On
deliverance
The Three deliverances:
From Satan's Kingdom to that of Jesus (Salvation)
From the effects of Satan's Kingdom on you (Deliverance Ministry)
From this defiled world to heaven (Death and resurrection)
Why do we need deliverance?
To remove the effects of Satan on you as result of your originally
belonging to his kingdom
Demons cause hurts in you to try and cause you to follow them and/or sin
and deliverance removes the hurts demons use to try to cause you to sin
To remove the hurts that cause addiction (Addictions are a compensation
to hide the pain of the hurt)
To remove the hidden nests of demons that causes mental illness and other
mental problems
To heal demonically caused illness
How do you know you need deliverance?
You have a sin/weakness you cannot overcome
You have a temptation that will not go away
You have misfortunes that seem to be unusual in their type or frequency
of occurrence
You do not seem to be prospered by God and you are not in sin and it is
not a trial God is using to mature you or draw you back to Himself
You have problem sleeping and/or have nightmares a lot
You continually have thoughts you know that are ungodly but you cannot
stop having them
You have voices in your head and cannot stop what they say to you
Demons appear to you and harass you either in your sleep or when you are
awake
You have trouble studying, reading or understanding The Bible
You are constantly judgmental or critical of others or behave
legalistically towards them
You have low self-esteem, self-value, self-worth, self-hate of any part
of you or want to harm yourself in some way (e.g.
suicide)
You have a wrong attitude to yourself
You have anger or unforgiveness you cannot get rid of or you do not want
to reconcile to someone you have offended
Who can have deliverance?
Any Citizen of The kingdom of God
Jesus only delivered:
People who recognised Him to be The Messiah (Lord)
People who needed to be delivered to be able to decide for or against Him
(The Gadarene)
People who had authority over another and came to Jesus to deliver the
person they had authority over (The Father for the son)
Jesus never delivered anyone who did not recognise Him as The Messiah
Warning about non-Christians:
Satan can immediately re-enter them as they do not belong to Jesus
The original demon brings in seven worse ones than it is
The person is far worse off than before deliverance
This is especially so with those who cannot repent (Heb 6:6-8) who are a
revolving door for demons
The five
steps
Based on our position in The Kingdom of God:
What belongs to Jesus Satan cannot touch without the permission of
Jesus
Our position in The Kingdom of God is possible because of our redemption
Why are the five steps effective?
Jesus has authority over Satan and can tell him what to do
Satan could not cause Jesus to sin and become under his authority and so
Satan was defeated by Jesus
The five steps are all a form of worship:
Step 1 acknowledges Jesus as Lord of all and able to protect what you
entrust to Him
Step 2 acknowledges He is the judge of all but a merciful judge
Step 3 acknowledges His authority over Satan
Step 4 acknowledges His authority over all to heal all types of illness
Step 5 Acknowledges He gives The Holy Spirit and that The Holy Spirit is
desirable to have
Hindrances to Deliverance:
Unforgiveness
Deliberately Unrepented Sin
Unresolved offences
Can lose you your Salvation if not repented of (Rev 3:5)
Unresolved offences need to be dealt with. Jesus is a peacemaker and expects you to
be one also. He requires you to
wholeheartedly try and reconcile to the other person and if the other person
does not accept reconciliation then it is their problem. You have done what Jesus requires you to
do.
Hindrances to reconciliation:
Fear of the person
Anger and bitterness (both a sign of
unforgiveness).
Both need deliverance to be freed to try and reconcile to the other
person.
Sin only need to be known by Jesus:
Give to Him silently in your heart
He is the one sinned against (Matt 25:40)
No one else's business to know them
The Actual
five steps
The five steps are not a magic formula but a framework to help you to
give to Jesus the parts of your life He is not Lord of. It is these areas Satan uses or tries to
use as He cannot attack the areas given to Jesus without the consent of
Jesus.
Step 1 Give Jesus all your:
Worries
Problems
Fears
Hurts
Bad Memories
Circumstance
Events
Anything in you not of God
Step 2 Repentance and forgiveness
Repent of anything you have done wrong:
You need to wholeheartly try to stop doing the wrong
thing
If you cannot stop doing the wrong things and you are wholeheartedly
tying to stop it then you have not given what you need to Jesus and will need
deliverance in another area
You may need to pray "Lord I repent! Help me to repent"
Need to repent of:
Bitterness
Root of Bitterness
Wrong attitudes to others (Unforgiveness, anger)
Wrong attitudes to yourself (self-pity, self-hatred)
You may need to ask the Lord to help you do these
Step 3 In Jesus' Name tell Satan he has to go from the areas areas given to
Jesus
They belong to Jesus
Satan no longer has a right to be in them or to use
them
In Jesus’ Name cast Satan to The Throne Of Judgment to be dealt with by
Jesus
Step 4 In Jesus' Name command healing on all the damage Satan did to the
person
Step 5 Ask The Holy Spirit to fill the person (which includes the space
left by the demons that left)
Soul
Ties
Some sins result in ties being formed between the souls of the two people
involved. In Jesus’ Name do the
following
Break all wrong soul ties
Evict demons that have used them at any time
Seal the ends of the breaks in the soul ties so they cannot be
rejoined
Command healing on any damage the demons did to the
person
Ask The Holy Spirit to replace the demons that have left the
peson
The breaking of these soul ties assumes the events causing them have been
given to Jesus using the five steps.
If these have not been given to Jesus then you will need to do this for
the person before you do the above set of steps to break the soul
ties.
Other
Comments
Sometimes the person may not be able to say the prayers in which case you
say them for the person and all the person has to do is agree with the prayers
in their heart as that is what Jesus looks at and not what they say
No more
guilt, shame or condemnation after Calvary
These now comes from demons
Cast them out using five steps
How to
defeat Satan
Satan cannot get you to do anything you do not agree to do
Ignoring his suggestions is the best defence
If you cannot do this then you will need deliverance
Application of the Five
Steps.
These are used to:
Remove Satan (Deliverance)
Steps 1,3,5 used to protect current or future activities by stopping
Satan from attacking or using them
Attack Satan and his kingdom
Example of
using the five steps
In Step 1Have them give to Jesus all their:
Worries
Problems
Fears
Hurts
Bad Memories
Circumstances
Events
Anything in them not of God
In Step 2 they may need to pray:
Lord I forgive, help me to forgive
Lord I repent help me to repent
Final
Comments
You have now been shown two weapons against Satan.
The five steps used to deliver someone
The use of parts of the five steps to stop Satan’s works in its
tracks.
We are war with Satan and not to fight him is to lose the war before you
even start.
You have now been shown how
to fight Satan and do deliverance.
It you do not at least wholeheartedly try to do these things then you
will have to explain to Jesus why you did not fight His war and use His weapons
against His enemy.
