The
Five Steps
Outline
and summary
The Five Steps which form the
basis of this deliverance method used in this booklet are as follows:
Give
the matter, event, weakness, area, problem, circumstances.
Their causes and all consequences of these things given to Jesus to be
Lord of (to make it part of His Kingdom)
Repent,
especially of: bitterness, root of bitterness, unforgiveness and of
wrong attitudes to others or yourself. Forgive other people
who have hurt or offended you as well as yourself.
You may need to pray:
“Lord I forgive all and myself. Help me to forgive
please!”
or
“Lord
I
repent. Help me to repent.”
In Jesus’ Name cast Satan out because He no longer has no
right to be there (as he is an escaped prisoner from the prison of
hell). The things given to Jesus now belong to The Kingdom of
God and Satan cannot touch them without God’s permission.
In
Jesus’ Name command healing of all the damage Satan did to
you and restoration of all he took from you.
Ask The Holy Spirit to fill you and to take place of the demons that
have left you.

Summary:
Give
it all to Jesus
Repent, forgive
Cast out Satan in Jesus’ Name
Command healing and restoration in Jesus’ Name
Ask The Holy Spirit to fill you completely
The Five Steps are based on
our position in The Kingdom of God:
Our position in The Kingdom of God is possible because of our
redemption . What belongs to Jesus Satan cannot touch without the
permission of Jesus.
Why are The Five Steps
effective?
Jesus has authority over Satan and can tell him what to do
Whatever Jesus is Lord of, Satan cannot touch without the permission of
Jesus. He also has no right to these areas and must leave
when commanded to do so in Jesus’ Name.
The Five Steps expanded
The Five Steps are not a magic formula but a framework to help you give
to Jesus the parts of your life He is not Lord of. It is
these areas Satan uses or tries to use as he cannot attack the areas
already given to Jesus without the consent of Jesus.
There is nothing wrong with Jesus not being Lord of any part of your
life as long as you do not realise this part is not yet given to Him
and you are not deliberately withholding it from Him. Jesus
expects you to deal with what you know. Not what you do not
know.
Step
1 Give Jesus all your:
Worries
Problems
Fears
Hurts
Bad Memories
Circumstance
Events
Areas of weakness
Anything in you not of God
Step
2 Repentance and forgiveness
Repent of anything you have done wrong:
You need to wholeheartedly try to stop doing the wrong thing.
Anything not of The Kingdom of God or its Character (Jesus) is wrong.
If you cannot stop doing wrong things after you have been through
deliverance and you are wholeheartedly tying to stop it, then you have
not given what you need to Jesus and will need deliverance in another
area.
You need to ask The Holy Spirit what to give to Jesus and the
use The Five Steps to give it to Him.
At times we treat a result of a problem and not the real cause of it so
we only have partial deliverance. There may also be hidden
nests of demons that have been missed in the deliverance
session. It is these that still trouble you so you need to
find out what to give to Jesus to remove their right to be there.
You need to repent of:
Bitterness
Root
of bitterness
Wrong attitudes to others (unforgiveness, anger, refusing to reconcile
to a person you have offended)
Wrong attitudes to yourself (self-pity, self-hatred, low elf-esteem)
Wrong things you knowingly did.
You may need to ask the Lord to help you do this
Step
3 In Jesus’ Name tell Satan he has to go from the areas given
to Jesus
They belong to Jesus
Satan no longer has a right to be in them or to use them
In Jesus’ Name cast Satan to The Throne of Judgment to be
dealt with by Jesus
Step
4 In Jesus’ Name command healing on all the damage Satan did
to the person
There are two aspects to this:
The
healing of all the emotional and physical damage Satan did to you
The restoration of all he took from you.
All of the physical healing and restoration of losses is done in
God’s timing and in God’s way. Whatever
He does will be best for you and for His Kingdom.
Step
5 Ask The Holy Spirit to fill the person (which includes the space left
by the demons that left)
Deliverances sweeps the house (soul) clean. So filling it
with The Holy Spirit stops them coming back in.
Note:
The Five Steps are not a litany or magic formula you recite by rote,
but are a framework of five principles to use like a ladder.
Each rung leads to the next rung and on each rung you place what is
appropriate to that rung. The first rung is the one that varies
according to the situation, and is based on what you give to Jesus to
be Lord of. The next four rungs really do not change as they
really do not need to change to meet the requirements of the situation
being prayed about.
What each rung of the ladder does:
Rung
1 gives a matter to Jesus to be Lord of.
Rung 2 removes attitudes that can stop God hearing your prayer and if
not repented of can result in loss of salvation.
Rung 3 removes Satan from these areas.
Rung 4 heals any damage Satan did to you or restores what God wants
restored of what Satan took from you.
Rung 5 fills the soul (house) with The Holy Spirit so demons cannot
come back into the soul.
Why give areas to Jesus and not individual sins?
Jam
5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for
another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a
righteous man availeth much.
Note it is faults (weaknesses
of character that results in sin) that James says to tell others and
not the sins you do.
The basis of what to give to Jesus in the framework of The Five Steps
is the giving of an area to The Lord rather than fighting individual
demons. For example, a person may have a problem with various
areas of pornography. The person does not have to declare
each area he has problems with but gives the whole area of pornography
in his life to Jesus to deal with and be Lord of. He will do
a general repentance for the area of pornography in his life and not
each specific thing in that area or sin unless told to do so by The
Holy Spirit.
When a demon enters they invite others in so that there may be many
demons. If you fight individual demons you need to remove
them one at a time. If you give the area to The Lord then
they all have to go when cast out from that area.
This is why you give areas, events, weaknesses, circumstances,
consequences etc. to The Lord, so everything in that area is dealt with
at once.
Remember, you can give the area to Jesus quietly in your heart so no
one else knows what you have given except Jesus and that is all that is
important. You may also need to cast out demons trying to
block you using The Five Steps or your hearing The Holy Spirit so you
will not know or hear what to give to Jesus.
A prayer like:
In
Jesus’ Name
I forbid you Satan blocking me hearing The Holy Spirit or remembering
what I need to give to Jesus
Should be said.
It may be necessary to examine types of sins to determine the root
cause so you know which area(s) to give to Jesus, but usually it is not
necessary to examine individual sins of a person to determine what the
area is that is to be given to Jesus.
Often there is abuse in the childhood of the person (sexual,
emotional, physical etc.) and they cannot remember it as it is
partitioned off in their memory. So you would give to Jesus
in step 1 of The Five Steps.
Something like:
I
give to you Lord, all
the abuse I have received at any time of my life, the causes of the
abuse, the results of the abuse and anything I have done wrong as a
result of this abuse. All to be Lord of.
The periods of abuse will usually account for times they cannot
remember in their life. So these periods can also be given to
Jesus in step 1 of The Five Steps if the actual abuse situation cannot
be remembered.
Any coping mechanisms such as: smoking, drinking, gambling, sex, drugs,
excessive collecting of things or activities, can be given to Jesus in
step 1, along with the causes and results of them.
Remember that Jesus knows all our sins so we do not need to confess
them individually but just the area of weakness they are in.
All Jesus asks is that we try not to sin and if we do, then we give it
back to Him to be Lord of using the framework of The Five Steps.
It is important to wholeheartedly keep trying to obey Jesus.
It is only through unrepented disobedience, which is one way you
blaspheme The Holy Spirit, that you will lose your salvation (Re 3:5).
Application of The Five Steps.
These are used to:
Remove
the damage Satan caused to you (Deliverance)
Fight the temptations of Satan
Deal with weaknesses and fears in your life that lead to sin
Protect current or future activities by stopping Satan from attacking
or using them (steps 1,3,5)
Deliverance does not end with
the deliverance session.
As you continue in your Christian walk there will be other areas in
which you will need deliverance as well as attacks from Satan you will
need to fight off. At times Satan will try to use the attacks
to make you believe you are not delivered in an area, or trap you into
giving him an area of your life to control.
Remember that Satan needs you to accept what he asks you to do or say
before you will sin. Every temptation is Satan trying to make
you accept what he is suggesting so that he can eventually control an
area of your life or make you sin, or both. So reject what he
says and you will not sin.
The Five Steps are your method of defence and attack so use them every
time you get a wrong or negative thought, emotion or sensation as these
are not from God but from Satan.
For the first year or two you may need to use The Five Steps constantly
as you need to remove things from your life, but in the end Satan will
be removed from your soul and you will be purified and Jesus will be
Lord of it; so that Satan will have great difficulty in
gaining any access to it or your mind.
What Jesus is Lord of Satan, will fail in his attacks against you.
Because Jesus is Lord of all your life He will have difficulty
attacking you and making you accept his control or influence in an area
of your life.
This perhaps is one of the most important things in maintaining your
salvation. Giving Jesus all to be Lord of and removing
Satan’s influence in any area of your life.
This can only occur as you keep your eyes on Jesus to see any area that
is not of His.
As you desire Jesus and His purposes, Satan will not be able to get a
foothold into your mind and you will have all you need to live for
Jesus, to serve Jesus as He desires you to serve Him, as well as to
fight Satan victoriously (Mat 6:33).
