Section Three – General Comments
This is a more general section on doctrine and practice and looks at matters that are not usually specific to the Catholic church (though one or two may be).  This section includes practices and doctrine of Protestant, Charismatic and Pentecostal denominations or churches.
While some of the matters are not errors as such they have become almost a necessary thing and are in contrast of the freedom of worship or practice that Grace ushered in with the death of Jesus at Calvary.  These practices are usually more for denominational purposes or control of administration or practices of the denomination which may or may not be Biblical.  They are usually not for the purposes of The kingdom of God and so usually have only the second test applying to them.
Nothing inanimate is in itself good or evil.  It is the usage of them by  person that illustrates the heart of a person is good, evil or in error.
I will treat these topics alphabetically and will not refer to any specific church or denomination unless necessary.  The denominations or churches involved will know what applies and that is all that matters.  Like any error, evaluation may be done by anyone competent to do so but conviction and how to deal with the error is only by the guidance of The Holy Spirit.  You may be asked to help but only then can you get involved and even then only in a humble way as a servant on behalf of Jesus helping one of His people in their need.
Altars
Are altars necessary?
After Calvary there was no longer a need to make a sacrifice to approach God.  The sacrifice of Jesus at Calvary met all the requirements of God in this area so sacrifice is no linger necessary for anything.
The altar was also a place to approach God and give Him your offerings.  The altar is no longer relevant for these as God owns everything and the only thing we can offer Him is our free will (Rom 12:1-2)
As God (the Holy Spirit) lives in our spirit  we no longer need to go to a Temple or altar to approach Him.  As for taking offerings to The altar, He owns everything so that we are only giving Him that which Is His anyway.
All we can offer God is our freewill obedience and we do not needed an altar to do that.  Having said that, an altar can be a place that helps people focus on Jesus in some way and in that there is no problem but when it becomes and end in itself it is idolatry.
Authority, Spiritual
Pastors and ministers say they have spiritual authority (headship) over their congregation. The Bible states in 1 Pet 2:25 that Jesus is our Bishop (pastor) and no where else in the Bible has He delegated this role to another.
Regardless of what Paul or another wrote you cannot use their writings to assume spiritual authority over another as they had no right to delegate this.  Only Jesus has this right and He has not delegated this right (to have spiritual authority over another) to anyone.
Baptism – See chapter after  “Introduction to the Gospel of Jesus”
Belief
Belief is relative to the understanding of the beholder.  How you view or see something is based on your willingness to believe it, based on what you have been taught and/or willingness to accept in the past.  This is so especially if it is a new concept or experience.
If what you have been taught is incorrect in any way then your belief system will also be incorrect in these areas.
If the incorrect areas of learning deal with salvation, your relationship to God as well as how you are to live the Christian life in these areas will also be incorrect in your knowledge of them and performance of them.  God will still honour the relationship if this error is from ignorance but the relationship with Him will not be as good as it could be.
As long as you wholeheartedly try to obey of what you know or know or understand of God and His requirements then you are doing what God requires you to do.  It is when you deliberately rebel against what God has revealed to you and refuse to repent of this rebellion that you are in danger of losing your salvation (Rev 3:5).
Does it matter what you do, if Jesus is your only focus and Lord of your life and you are led by The Holy Spirit in all you do?
Only when you knowingly disobey the Bible and its Law of Love do you sin as Jesus is not your focus and is not Lord of your life.
If it is not in The Bible, does not break the Law of Love, does not take your focus of Jesus so it leads to idolatry or remove His Lordship of you, in an area of your life or causes another to sin, then no one can criticize it or say it is wrong.
Bible, Modify
A person modifies the Bible if

They  contradict it
Alter its meaning
Remove verses or  beliefs from it
Add to its requirements
Uses reason and not The Holy Spirit’s guidance to interpret or translate it
Change the interpretation of words without changing the actual words themself!

Bible, Not believing any part of it
God says His Bible will be preserved without error until time is no more as well as beyond that.
If you do not believe God cannot do that then you cannot use His Bible as you will consider it will have error in it and you do not know which part is in error.
Besides, if He lied about being able to preserve The Bible then you cannot trust any part of it.  No matter how you change (it (e.g. Ps 12:5–7) you still cannot rely on it as having to change it implies God is incorrect and has made an error so you have had to change or correct  it.  This means you cannot know what other parts of if it are in error.
It is a brave man who calls God a liar then corrects what God has said in His Bible.
You have to believe all The Bible or you cannot risk accepting any of it.  It is an all or nothing situation.
Blessings
Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father. He alone can bless us.  All a person can do is ask The Father to Bless a person.
If God wants to bless someone through you He will give you what He wants you to bless that person with (Matt 6:33).
To ask God to bless a person does not usually  mean they will be blessed.  If it is in accordance with His will they will be blessed and remember we are to ask only things in accordance with His Will.
A person cannot bless another in their own right as they can not offer that person any thing unless God tells them to give it to that person as God is owner of all things and they are only steward of what they have been entrusted with and must ask God what to do with what they have.
If God wants you to bless a person He will tell you what to bless them with and will provide it for you to do so.
To bless someone in your name (authority) is wrong and may even be idolatry.
In conclusion you can only bless a person when God tells you to in the way He tells  you too.  He may give you something to bless them with or do it Himself.  What ever happens you must ask Him first about it so it will be done in accordance with His Will.
Body of Christ
This consists of all who voluntarily follow Jesus as Lord and thus is their saviour.  It includes all so must include those who have died and gone to heaven, It is greater in scope than any denomination or church as they are limited to earth, being of man’s manufacture and so cannot include those in heaven, This is why Jesus does not recognise denominations and their church structures as they are man-made and may include only part of The Body.
Where denominations or churches do His work He recognises them but not as a denomination or church but as part of The Body!
People in the Body may have errors of belief but as long as Jesus is Lord of their entire life and they desire to remove any of these errors of belief when they are shown the truth, then Jesus accepts them as His own.
Jesus will never show you anything you cannot understand.  If He desires you to understand something He will ensure it is shown to you in a way you can understand so that you will not have an excuse for not doing it (Duet 29:29).
This does not include ‘The Mysteries ‘of God as we are incapable of understanding them and are not meant to understand them unless they are revealed to us by His Holy Spirit (Job 32:8).
The body is an organisation based on love.  If denominations and churches were part of The Body they would help each other and fellowship with each other. The fact they look to their own interests only and not also to the needs of other denominations and churches shows that they cannot be part of The Body.  The people may be part of The Body but not the denominations and/or church structures.
The Christian is to promote The Kingdom of God of which the Body is a part and not the denomination or any structures or organisations associated with them.
Celibacy
The Bible does not recommend celibacy and says in I Tim 4:1-3 that one of the marks of people who have listened to seducing spirits is that they will forbid people to marry.  Also it says it is better to marry than to burn with lust (1 Cor 7: 7-9).  Though further  in Rev 14:1-5,  we have the example of people who are celibate for the purposes of serving Jesus.
The Bible does say there are some called to be eunuchs (unmarried) for the purposes of The Gospel (Matt 19:12).  Jesus said it was a gift so if you are celibate and  have problems with it may be you are not meant to be celibate or need deliverance to keep this calling to be celibate.
The conclusion is that God may call you to be celibate but it is up to Him and not the rules of any denomination to require celibacy of anyone.
So if a Catholic priest or anyone else  says they believe God wants them to be celibate who are you to say they are wrong?
Ceremony and Pomp
Jesus is ruler of the universe and is its owner.  Why should he not be honoured by ceremony and procession.
We read in Col 2:15 the Jesus paraded Satan and his demons in a public procession to show He was victor over them.  In Revelation, all gather. before the Great White Throne where  God is holding court.
Ceremony and processions that have as their purpose the giving of honour and glory to God are acceptable.  When the  procession is for another such as Mary or a Saint then it is idolatry as it removes glory and honour from Jesus.  When the trappings of the ceremony or procession become the focus of attention (such as is the case with relics) or people in the procession become the focus of worship (such as important people) then it also becomes idolatrous
The trappings of ceremonies or processions should be prepared and done as guided by The Holy Spirit and not as man reasons they should be.  If they are guided by the Holy Spirit they will give glory and honour to God and will be acceptable to God.
Christmas
Latest research has solved the puzzle of what the star was called that the Wise men saw.  As a result of this, the birth of Christ is calculated as April 17,  6BC.  His conception wold have bee in 7 BC.  The date of 25 December was chosen at random to replace the date of the Birth of Jesus as it had been forgotten by 300 AD and was the date of the pagan Roman festical of The Sun God.
Church and State
The principle in Acts 6 is that the administrative work is kept separate from those that wait on God who advise those in the administrative side of things, as is necessary, what The Holy Spirit has said.  Carrying this over into government or similar you will have those doing the administrative side of government but they should be advised by those on the spiritual side.  This has not happened so Satan has gotten in to control government at all levels which is why we have the mess we have today.
This date was chosen to remove the worship of The Sun God and replace it with the worship of Jesus (good propaganda) and was not chosen to make an identification of Jesus with The Sun God.
It is to be noted that shepherds are in the fields in Israel between April and October as it is too cold to be in the fields in other months.
Perhaps we should change the date of Christmas and use December 25 as an evangelistic period rather than get caught up in the mercenariness of the season.
Clerical Robes, Dogs Collars etc.
As long as clothing is modest it does not really matter what you wear.
So Clerical garb has no Biblical offence if it is modest.
This also includes Vestment for celebrating Mass unless they become status symbols or idols.
Any clothing that is modest satisfies the requirements of God unless they are used as ‘status’ symbols (pride) and not just to indicate rank or position in a denomination or organisation.
A prophet friend was commended by God for having identification on him that showed He was a Christian as so few do these days.  It was simply a dove on his collar.  So people who wear clerical garb are commended by God for at least showing His presence here.
Compromise
Someone who compromises what God desires you to do, selectively believing The Bible may not be a Christian.  If They knowingly do not believe what The Bible says they are in unrepented disobedience and in danger of hell.
Jesus said you cannot serve two masters: Yourself (Satan) or Jesus.  you cannot say you  follow Him then believe what you want to. To try and do this results in Him not being Lord of your life. If He is not lord of your life because of deliberate rejection of anything The Bible says then you are not His and will go to hell (Rev 3:5).
Confession

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

This cannot refer to confessing your sins to another.  All your sins were remitted at Calvary and placed on Jesus so that God considers you to have never sinned.  You cannot confess something to God that God considers you have not done.
If something is remitted it is considered you are as if you had never done it.  So how can you confess what you are considered by God never to have done.
The reason sin needed to be remitted was to remove the defilement that sin did to you and which stopped you entering The Kingdom of God.  This is because nothing defiled can never enter The Kingdom of God.  If sins had just forgiven, the defilement of sin would still have been on us and we could not have entered The kingdom of God.  Therefore God remitted our sins, which means we have nothing to confess.
James 5:16 is about admitting we have faults, which we need help with to deal with.  This is where we fulfil the Bible and help each other .

Gal 6:2Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

For over 1500 years, Catholic priests have heard confession and missed the whole point of being there to mentor and not forgive sin.  They have misunderstood their role as mentors and replaced it with a role God does not have in His body.  That of a confessor.

KJV John 20:23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
Douay-Rheims Joh 20:23  Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them: and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.

In this, Jesus is stating the principle that sins remitted are gone for good.
As you can see both Bibles are different and that the Douay-Rheims Bible misses the whole point of Calvary that sins were remitted and not just forgiven.  If they had just been forgiven we would still be defiled by them and not able to enter The Kingdom of God.  It can be seen that the Douay-Rheims is incorrect in its translation.  This is because of two reasons: there is no sin to forgive, and the priest has no right to do that which God does not consider you have, to declare forgiveness of them.
So why did Jesus say this (Jn 20:23) to the apostles?  This was to show there was no sin to forgive and they had no authority to forgive any way as God alone has that as Jesus told us in the Lord’s pray when he showed us The Father is the one who forgives sins.  It was reinforcing the fact that after Calvary no one would need forgiveness of sins but only repentance from sin.
Confirmation
The Catholic Online Encyclopaedia explains it as follows:

In the Western Church the sacrament is usually administered by the bishop. At the beginning of the ceremony there is a general imposition of hands, the bishop meantime praying that the Holy Ghost may come down upon those who have already been regenerated: “send forth upon them thy sevenfold Spirit the Holy Paraclete.” He then anoints the forehead of each with chrism saying: “I sign thee with the sign of the cross and confirm thee with the chrism of salvation, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.” Finally, he gives each a slight blow on the cheek saying: “peace be with thee”. A prayer is added that the Holy Spirit may dwell in the hearts of those who have been confirmed, and the rite closes with the bishop’s blessing.

The purpose of confirmation is summarised as follows:

the bishop meantime praying that the Holy Ghost may come down upon those who have already been regenerated: “send forth upon them thy sevenfold Spirit the Holy Paraclete.”

It is the asking of The Holy Spirit to fill these people.  As the ceremony of confirmation is not Biblical I will not deal with the practices of confirmation.
Man cannot give The Holy Spirit as The Father does this on behalf of Jesus for the purposes of The kingdom of God.

h 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

The Spirit is given in a few circumstances and not at the request of man.  He is given for the purposes of The Kingdom of God as follows:

To fill the spirit of a person and mark that person as belonging to the Kingdom of God so Satan cannot take over that person’s spirit.
To replace demons that have been cast out of a person’s house so that seven worse plus the original one do not come back in ( and I have seen that happen).
To empower (anoint) and authorise a person for a particular ministry (Acts 1:8) which is why gifts are also given by The Spirit to do this.  You will only receive the gifts you need so it is no use asking for more or supposedly granting people gifts.  God will not give people gifts unless they are necessary to serve Him but Satan will give you his version which is why the pentecostal, charismatic and other denominations have so many problems because they seek things at the wrong time and for the wrong purposes.  They seek what they think they need and not what God wants them to have.

Confirmation as practiced or the equivalent Baptism in The Spirit where the person is not being empowered or anointed for ministry is not Biblical.  It seeks to do something God will not approve.  God will allow the spirit to fill a person and take up the spaces in the soul Satan does not have but it will not be anointing and empowerment for ministry.
Creation
If you open a dictionary, examine the first page of definitions and find them faulty you will not trust and indeed cannot trust in the rest of the dictionary so it is used to light fires or thrown in the garbage bin.
If you open The Bible and look at the first three chapters and believe they are wrong you cannot use that Bible as it is in error and like the dictionary you do not know what else is in it that is wring so it is only good for lighting fires or throwing in the garbage.
Like the dictionary you need to find a book you can trust that will tell you what you believe God is doing and in which you will hope to find salvation and all that God requires of you.  You cannot go to The Bible for these as  you cannot trust it as it has the beginning wrong and you cannot know what else is wrong.
If you do not believe Genesis Ch 1 and 2 you cannot believe the rest of the Bible as you call God liar and you do not know what else He has lied about in His Bible.
The Bible says every scripture in it is inspired by God so if believe a part of it is wrong then you must reject the rest of it as you cannot trust what else God has said in it.
It is all or nothing!
Creation Gap theory
Any thing that adds too or modifies Gen 1 and 2 calls God a liar because it tries to help God over Him using  6 days of 24 hours for creation which they believe is impossible and needs longer ages.  These people are using reason to evaluate God which a person cannot do (Is 55:8–9)
You cannot use the Bible for the same reasons those who do not believe in Genesis 1 and 2 cannot use it (see Creation).

Criticism
To criticize another you must have fulfilled all righteousness through being sinless.  This is why Jesus alone and can judge, criticize or condemned.
The Protestant Church cannot judge or condemned the Roman Catholic Church or self righteously criticize it.  Neither can any denomination condemn or criticise another. All they can do is humbly compare  what the other denomination does with what the Bible says it should do.  If the denomination does not reject its error once it knows the true then it is in continual rebellion to Jesus, no longer is part of his body so you cannot fellowship with them.
All you can do is to love them as people God made and dialogue with them in the hope they will understand and repent.
They are also in danger of losing their salvation.
