Secrets of Eromanga ... junior fiction novel published by Lothian Books in 2006
The inspiration for Secrets of Eromanga came when I read about unique Australian fossils being stolen and smuggled out of the country. Then, along came the main character, 12-year-old Ellie – fossil-mad, animal lover, a little unsure of herself, but resourceful and courageous at the same time.
I volunteered to work on the Elliot dinosaur dig site near Winton in outback Queensland; what better place to do research on Australian fossil digs?
Then, one day we went to the awesome Lark Quarry Dinosaur Stampede. Secrets of Eromanga had finally found its core – I couldn’t tell Ellie’s adventure without including the story of a young ornithopod from the Cretaceous Period.
