The
process of having a couture wedding dress made is a very easy and
stress
free process. Working with the brides ideas the following explains how the
process of getting a couture gown made works.
- Firstly
I meet with the bride to discuss her preferred design for her
gown and attendants and suggest fabrics and styles which
will suit the bride.
A deposit of 10% is required at the first fitting.
Balance due on completion of the gown.
- I
give the bride advice on where to buy fabric for her gown. All
haberdashery is purchased
by me and invoiced with the final
account. There are two reasons for this - most brides do not want
to be bothered with these fiddly bits and I prefer to get exactly
what is required for the inner construction of the gown.
- The first fitting is in a calico toile of the design to allow
any adjustments to the design to be made before the fabric is cut.
- Usually
three more
fittings is usually sufficient for completion of the
couture gown however for more intricate designs, extra
fittings may be required.
- Jewellery
& accessories can be chosen throughout the making process for
completion in time with the wedding gown.
