Here's an idea:
"You already give 8-10 hours a day to your boss and to your work. To boredom and to people and organizations who couldn't care less about you. Then your family and friends gets the rest of the time.

What about you? Do you really think so little of yourself that you can't sacrifice an hour or two, 3-4 days a week, for yourself? This "me" time isn't spent shopping, watching TV or getting on the internet. You're spending it reinvesting in your body, building strength, and building character. Kicking ass and training consistently - and with some balance - will do wonders for both your body and your mind...

Don't fall for the crap that people are peddling on message boards, in magazines or on TV. Get your shit in order, and get your training in order. Start kicking ass, and take out the crap that doesn't matter. Start doing and believing in the stuff that works, and do it today and forever. You want science and studies? Fuck you. I've got scars and blood and vomit.

This is a call to arms for some of you. It is for me, too. Stop all the things that make you a pussy and steal your energy. Get your life back.

You have made us felt welcomed, and your cheerful greeting around the office each morning made us felt glad that you are there.

I've realised that I am ok right now, and there's nothing wrong in trying to improve the situation to make life better.
I've learned that confidence is when goals and actions are aligned.
Be geniune and more authentic in my actions.
Fight the persona, look beyond the first layer of appearances.
Keep focused, never second guess the dream.

According to Spirit-Superior, all candidates promise to make the most of their time on Earth. They are eager to start their journey. They cannot wait to take their first swim, to enjoy a juicy orange, to bite into a scrumptious cake, to walk in the park, and to make love with a beautiful companion in symphony with the cool breeze. You push to the front of the queue and pleaded, ‘Please pick me. I promise to make the most of life on Earth.’

Well, here you are on Earth. Not long to go before you have to return to the balcony. Not long when you compare eighty-odd years to eternity. What are you doing about it? Did you bite into a delicious apple today? Did you take a swim? Did your heart skip a beat as the stars came out to bid the sunset a fond farewell? SIG Trader telephone interview

Probability Question:
a) You have two torpedoes. Each have a 1/3 chance of destroying the ship. Whats the probability that you will destroy the ship if you fire both at once?
b) Given that the ship is destroyed. What's the probability that both hit the ship?

The second question is abit stupid, and it threw me. My reasoning was how can the ship be hit twice if it's destroyed? i.e. it should be 0. Anyway. Answer: 1/5: (1/9 / 5/9).

Lets play a numbers game. You vs Me.
Say a number from 1 to 10, then I can say any number that's 1-10 greater than your number.
For example. I say 4, then you can say anything from 5 to 14.
The one who say 50 wins.

Would you go first or second, and what would your strategy be?

Work backwards. You want to say 50.
So you want to be saying 39 to force the other guy to say 40-49.
To force the other guy to let you say 39, you want to be saying 28.
To force the other guy to let you say 28, you want to be saying 17.
To force the other guy to let you say 17, you want to be saying 6.
Answer: Go first and say 6.

An old man sat next to me on the train today. Around 65-70.

Normally I would not take much notice. But he was fidgeting around, moving his body as he scans the windows for a glimpse of a station name.

He glances at me a few times, as if wanting to ask a question; my sunnies was on, this time, I did not try to start a conversation.

He wore grey. I looked at his quads and hamstring.. mine was at least twice his size, maybe from squats at the gym earlier; but it didn't matter as the comparison made me think.

What would I be like when I'm his age? Would I still be functioning as well? Where was he going? Is his family waiting for him? Does he have a family?

Questions in my mind.

He produced an old pair of glasses from his bumbag, it had a red frame, and around the back, it had a string joining the two ends together. Such an old style.. Was he in financial difficulty?

Questions which will not be answered.

We don't know what is going to happen to us tomorrow. All we can do, is to give our best today.

Macquarie Interview:

1. Why did you choose Accounting & Finance?
2. What subject do you enjoy the most?
3. What do you know about the Investment banking division?
4. What do you know about the Financial Products?
5. Give me a time when you were in a challenging position and how did you deal with it?
6. Show me a time where you were creative to solve a problem?

7. Numerical/logic questions
Talk me through how you get the answer to these problems. (no calculators etc)
1. Give me the square root of 100000.
2. How much do you need to invest at 7% simple interest to get 100000 at the end of a year?
3. In the middle of a pond, there is a lily grove. The lily grove multiplies into 2 every minute. If the pond is completely filled in 30 minutes. When is the pond a quarter full?

Basically the point of these questions were to test if you are able to take a step back and see if the answer makes sense. As some of the time you are working on the same problem for over three days and people can get stuck in the formulas such that they do not see that their result is out by 80million.

8. Why did you choose Macquarie?

You know that sometimes investment banking will require you to work long hours well into the night.

9. What will keep you motivated in these hours?
10. The next question is what drives you?
11. Tell me a time that you have to deal with a difficult person in a group situation.
12. Do you follow the financial markets? Tell us some recent events/deals that is happening these days.

13. Any questions for me?

Overall it was fun. Albeit she had an 'up-myself' tone. Feel free to ask me questions.

Oh, and somewhere along the lines I was asked what do I do at the moment at the SBP, how I think I'm going to go in the next review, and how does my cadetship work.

When we work to unite dream and day - investing time instead of spending it, time is on our side. Age becomes your friend.

Too many waste their lives spending time. They cry: "Oh how cruel is life". We laugh and say: "You got what you deserved. You spend your time chasing insignificant things. 'Chase the girls' I remember you say. HA! To get the girl of your dreams, you must become the man of your dreams. You did not work on yourself, nor attempt to master yourself. The unfinished woman is for the unfinished man. What more could you expect from karma?"

I wake up each day, believing and living in a reality which I created, which I control. A real man is strong, independent, and able to rely on himself. He is master of his fate, the captain of his soul.

You do NOT get strong by sitting there and thinking about it. You can NOT simply believe and expect something out of it. That is called stupidity.

You must become a man of action. Lead the body, and the mind will do the rest. Watch as your first step leads to your next step and the next thereafter. Never lose that momentum; soon or late you will get there. Be not impatient in delays but wait as one who understands; when spirit rises and commands. The gods are ready to obey. Take the steps and your time will come.

On fear. Fear is the voice of the masses, telling you to stop, telling you to be realistic, telling you to be sensible, to live like the rest of them.

Two rules which I'll share with you:
1. Who cares what they think. - Only you, know what you truely want, and what is best for you.
2. You are the most important person in your life. - If you die tomorrow, does anything really matter to you anymore?

Conquer fear and doubt and you have conquered failure.

Take control. It's your life.

The asthetic quality of my muscle gains will just be an added bonus, not my goal.

Reflection on 2006:

Mistakes made this year: (not in order)
1. Wasting time on people that are flakey and who never return calls.
2. Not approaching when given a direct invitation.
3. Mis time-management leading to the first Pass.
4. Dismissing girls for half imagined offences.
5. Letting a good number go stale.
6. Being uncommitted until the last day.
7. Trying to impose my beliefs and values onto others.
8. Being slow to admit that someone has helped me immensely with a task.

To fix:
1. Go through mobile and delete numbers.
2. Don't hesitate, keep being in a state of action.
3. Allocate time and effort to priorities.
4. Listen to their 'reasons'.
5. Call as soon as reasonable.
6. Refer to 3.
7. Accepting that there are differences and that is perfectly fine.
8. Sincerely thank them and tell them why.

I'm sure there are more. And I will eliminate them as they are found.
We grow not from our mistakes; but what we learn from them.

Ask a rich guy what he did to get rich. Chances are in your favour he will give you a couple of minutes. Don't be a nusiance and don't take too much time. Just ask, say thank you, and move on. He will appreciate your interest and you will have a real life nugget you can act on. Here's a word of caution: don't argue with him. When he tells you what he did to get rich or become successful, don't argue and say things like: "that won't work for me". I'm amazed when people who are not successful feel that they have the right to argue with those who are successful. These people obviously don't know what they are talking about or they would be successful themselves. Instead, they should just shut up, and listen, and learn something. Don't ask a person who is successful or rich to defend his position. He doesn't have to. It obviously works because he's rich and successful.

In couple hours I'll be heading to the bars, full of positive energy, looking forward to another night of learning and good times.

Sans alcohol, you get this nervous energy in the pit of your stomach. Its not exactly nervousness, more the excitement and anticipation of the night ahead.

Every night you have to start from scratch. You have to do the warmups, get talkative and find that smooth zone where everything flows like water. You have to let go of all outcomes while maintaining positive optimism about the potential and possibilities.

Right now I'm feeling awesome and ready to go. I'm visualizing success and have two trojans raring to be opened.

I don't like to write crap here.

However, theres an interesting election happening at the commerce society. Here's a few observations: It is puzzeling to find that all these people (you know who you are), whom, to the best of my knowledge, have never been involved with COMSOC before, suddenly became campaigners.
Some are passionate, while others appears indifferent.

Heres a quick run down of the campaign:
Question: Have you voted?
Answer (1): Yes
Answer (2): No
Answer (3): Not going to
Response (1): Ok, thanks. (read: you are useless to us now)
Response (2&3): Have you heard of the election? Heres why u should vote for us.. (continue to crap on about some BullSh*t. *begins to herd you towards the election place*)

(Feel free to chuckle to yourself about their amateur salesmanship)
Anyway, question remains: why or how they suddenly got involved?
Is it because one or a few of their friends are running?
Is it the free shirt?
Is it the 'feeling of importance' that Dale Carnegie talks about?
Are they just following people like mindless lambs?
Perhaps they are campaigning for their CV?
Who knows?

Heres a thought: Yes, I'll see them again after the election, but will I hear from them about COMSOC again after the election? It's doubtful.

So what choices do we have?
1) vote for those who've annoyed us.
2) don't vote for ones who've annoyed us. I.e. vote for other team.
3) don't vote and continue to solidify ourselves. Who cares if say they have contacts? You should make your own!
