SUNSHINE
FLY CLUB HOME PAGE
On
a bright sunny day in March 2001,
19 Sunshine Aussies were on route to Kiwi Land in pursuit for the big'uns.
When we arrived safely, our first stay was Hannah's Bay at the All Seasons
Caravan Park
W elcome by Allan and Jan, we
nestled in our cabins until it was time to get licenses being ready at the
starter's mark.
D iscussing with Pat and
Doug, they offers us good sound advice on flies being used and conditions of
the various streams, rivers and lakes,
With great enthusiasm, we all venture on our way of trying our luck by
offering the trout our undelicious flies {wet, smelt and others) steaks.
R eports come in every day,
of the number caught and we would say,
A s dedicated fly
fisherpeople, the trout were released for another day.
As the first week finally rolled on, so we must pack our bags and head
south,
So we say goodbye, Turangi here we come for another week and prepare for
fishing the rivers' mouth.
I n the second Saturday, we
arrived at the Creel Lodge and greeted by Roger,
Our stay here is to fish the Tongariro and nearby Taupo, other rivers that
offer us a challenge by using different techniques trying to catch these
codgers.
W ith Brian in his tackle
shop,
Offer all of us the good recommended information of fishing the famous
Tongariro with its popular fly fishing spots.
With Frank and Carol as guides showed us with great fishing areas that we
can learn,
And the helicopter pilot who landed us in inaccessible areas in the
mountains covered with trees and ferns.
With great enjoyment and fun,
T he weather most of the time
was great and we appreciate the New Zealand sun.
Finally, we must say our good-byes to all our Kiwi mates
Their hospitality and friendliness toward us was truly great.
William Sharpe.
