STEVE'S TRIP APRIL 2005

I can't comment too much about this trip until my article goes to print, suffice to say that it was fantastic, as one would expect.

The rivers were fantastic and weather warm so it was a dry fly feast. You normally get fish rising in summer for the twilight. On these rivers, it lasted all day.

Well, I was lucky enough to get away to New Zealand again this year with the better half. Bonus was 5 fabulous days at Blarney lodge, Rotorua with Pat and Helen O’Keefe. They both say hello to the Sunshine boys and girls! We managed a clear spell of weather and fished the lakes and rivers. A long Indian summer meant some awesome dry fly fishing on one of Pat’s favourite streams.

Pat was great and fine tuned some of my ridiculous techniques so I’ve walked away with some pretty handy tips. Also tested one of Pats Strudwick rods and have some new patterns to share with club members over the next few tying nights. Marty proved to be a great spotter on the boat and I ended up buying a new rod (thanks to her kind blessing!) The 2 rods that I took to New Zealand expired unfortunately. Whilst there is much to write about, I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
