Blarney
Lodge smelt Mark 11
Materials.
Hook; Kamasan or Black magic B175 Size 8

Thread; black mono. Tail; light brown
squirrel tail

Body; 9 turns of lead tied in half way on hook shank.

Dub on Antron and seals fur mixed, medium olive in colour.

Tie off at head, orange head optional., this is meant to be a
quick fly to tie so orange is not necessary...that’s just my added touch!

Using one of Hodge’s velcro icy pole sticks, fluff up the
dubbing, tease it forwards, then back.

This is one of those flies that will not hold high stakes in
the looks department, but is a real fish catcher.
The boys who went to New Zealand swear by it! Best used on a
floating line to smelting fish, in long meter pulls.
Also, good as a searching fly using an intermediate line.
Tight lines!
