Thursday 30th June 2009

I decided that the blog was getting a bit full, so I have deleted all past enrties and am starting anew. I'm settled into my new home now, just have to get the stuff in the garage stored on the shelves and I can relax. I'll do that this weekend.
Welcome to my blog. I'll try and update it regularly with the latest happenings in my life.
Monday 3rd August. 2009

Reduced the photos in my "Friends" page tonight so that it will load quicker, and am resting after a long overnight trip.

Wednesday 19th August 2009

The last couple of days have kept me busy. Firstly, I heard a clunk in the Tarago's front end, thinking it would be a dead shock, I trotted into Pedder's Suspension in Campbelltown to see about getting it fixed as my back precludes me from doing it myself these days. Got it up on the hoist and found all shock absorbers to have had it, as well as the upper and lower ball joints on both sides. Still after 300,000ks I can't really complain. Cost me $1,000 all up but it drives better than it did when I got it, so it was money well spent. Then decided that my main computer needed a rebuild, so formatted C drive and have re-loaded most of the programs that I use, and disposed of those I don't. Good increase in speed. Now I'm on my way to Dandenong by plane, and will drive back tonight. No rest for the wicked, and I must have been a very naughty boy.  Don't take that as an invitation girls. I'm really innocent!
Friday 28th August 2009

It's been a quiet week for trucks, but at least I've been able to get my townhouse set up. I managed to scrounge a nice book case from a friend who wasn't using it, so now I have some where to put my photos. There are no holes in the walls to hang them from, and I like to have them on display even though I don't see many of the people in them any more. I've managed to fit the deadlock to the rear door, and will do the sliding door to the upstairs balcony over the weekend. The rest of the downstairs windows will get a screw in the frames so they can't be opened. That should keep the insurance people happy.

I'm off to my friend Chris's place tomorrow. He is putting a new roof on his house and he needs some body to man the bar-b-q. That way I can pay him back for helping me move house. Hope the weather holds.

It's funny how things pan out. About 15 years ago, I went to a party at a friend of mine's place. I was the only one of all of his invited "friends" that turned up. I see that he had a party again this month, and all of his friends turned up. Except me, I wasn't invited! Wonder if his new wife had anything to do with it?
Wednesday 9th September 2009

Bit quiet this week, haven't been anywhere yet. Had to fit a re-conditioned alternator to my Tarago though.
11th September 2009

Since I am just hanging around home, I've added a few pictures to the webpages.
Friday 25th September 2009

Been flat out these past couple of weeks, but having a few days rest at present. Managed to drop my Asus Eeee laptop in the middle of no where, so am up for the first $100 excess. So glad for insurance. The bill to repair it is $600.00. Apart from that, I'm going to do some work on both my Tarago and Bike today that is overdue.
Saturday 26th September 2009

Rang the insurance company re the notebook, even though it was insured for $884.00 they are paying the full amount, less the $100.00 excess. I can get a new one for just over $500.00 so I will make around $200 on the deal, plus have a spare battery charger and hard drive.

My friend Laura Love just won the Goldmark Model of the year, so, CONGRATULATIONS Laura.
Sunday 27th September 2009

The bike was running a bit warm last week, in fact, it was nearly out of water, so I decided to check the complete cooling system and install a new fan switch and a override switch so that I can turn it on if the gauge gets a bit high. The new fan switch will start the fan about 20 degrees earlier so all the problems should be cured.
Sunday 4th October 2009

I've been flat out these last few days. From one end of the country to the other, and next week looks like being the same. I do enjoy it, but it does wear me out. It's nice to be at home for a few days. Thanks for visiting.

I've come to the conclusion that being tired causes my brain to stop working. But then again, I do get very tired. I feel that the human brain is like a large warehouse full of filing cabinets. Memories are stored by the frequency that they are required. Regularly used are close to the front, and the les frequently used are stored progressively further back until the are right in the back rooms gathering dust. Eventually, they have so much dust covering them that they become impossible to find and just disappear altogether, that's called Alzheimer's disease. At least that's what my memory tells me.
Saturday 17th October 2009

Well, another birthday has come and gone. Nothing exceptional, though it is surprising. I never expected to live this long. My thanks to those who sent me good wished, and to Big Bob and family for the presents and card. I'm happy in my little townhouse with Horatio, though there are times when a woman's soft hand would be welcome.

Thought I'd take the ST1100 for a run, as I hadn't been out on the bike for ages. Headed south down the highway to Bowral, then across to the Illawarra Highway, down the Macquarie Pass to Albion Park then via Woolongong to home, about 250ks all up. Came home and changed the oil, filter and spak plugs in the bike. A good day in all.

Tuesday 27th October 2009

Wet,wet, wet. That's what it looks like through the window, Not a fit day for swimming or motorcycling. I want it to be dry so I can get the ST1100 over to LLoyds Motorcycles for a tune up, I don't have the gear to tune the carby's, or the shims to do the tappets, so Lloyd can do them. I trust his honesty and integrity.

Sunday 8th November 2009

Just got back from Brisbane before the big wet last week. Stayed Thursday night in Ballina and drove back Friday. Lots of water beside the road and the rivers looked high. Got a bit of rain enough to go to full speed on the wipers and make other dirvers behave like rabbits, but that was all. Enjoyed being slack over the weekend.
Tuesday 17th November 2009

Just over 5 weeks to Christmas, wow another year gone and I'm still alive. Amazing!
Went to collect the bike on Friday but after going a couple of kilometres the miss made itself felt yet again. Might be a bit hard to find, but I'm sure that Lloyd and many dollars will fix it.
Thursday 19th November 2009

Never thought I'd be recommending a product on my pages but I've just tried "Pain Away" cream on my back and it really does work. Instantly. It's expensive at $25 a jar but worth every cent. If you have back or muscle pain give it a go.
