Welcome...

Every single decision we make, every breath we draw,

opens some doors and closes many others.

Most of them we don't notice.

Some we do...

Douglas Adams, Mostly Harmless

Dear Visitor,

It seems that in the modern online world, "personal websites" are all but forgotten; a mere phase in the history of the World Wide Web that has disappeared due to the advent of social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace. But before those mediums, before Wiki and Flash, when "streaming video" meant a 2 hour downloaded Quicktime movie measuring 160x120 pixels @ 5fps... people created websites all of their own invention and creation, without predesigned templates or the need to prove their worth by the number of people claiming to be their "friend".

In 1995 at the end of my final year of high school, I created my first website, having finally convinced my parents that a modem and ISP account was a requirement of modern computer-aged living. Over the Christmas break, before starting an IT degree at NTU, I worked on my first exploration into HyperText Markup Language. The site received a number of revamps over the years, peaking at over 250 files in size, and covering such topics as Doctor Who, eczema, the Beatles, and Nissan Z sports cars. Whilst I didn't have a massive list of "friends", I took great pride every time I received an email, or entry in my visitor's book, whether it be someone asking about if Tom Baker was my favourite Doctor, or a concerned parent seeking advice on their child's eczema. If you are game, you can take a look at the old site, but please forgive me my sins and remember the era!

Having learned Apple's HyperTalk language in high school, along with some C+ and other basics, I found HTML (2.0) fairly easy going. Fastforward 15 years to the creation of this site, and I have to say the advances in HTML (now v5) impress me no end. As a consumer of HTML, I hope that Flash does indeed die, and uniformity in coding can reign supreme.

Whilst I consider the possibilities that present themselves to me for the resurrection and development of my site, please find the first two sections of this new site below.

This is a work in progress, so please bear with me as I hammer in a nail here, and sand some wonky floorboards over there.

Yours faithfully
