Tim Nikolsky & Margot Leighton have been making music together since they meet in 1997, performing jazz as the voice and guitar duo White With Two as well as playing in combo’s with some of Melbourne’s finest jazz musicians including Bob Sedergreen, Jones, Paul Williamson, Alan Browne and Nick Haywood. They have performed at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, the Stonington Jazz Festival, and make regular appearances at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival each year. As well as appearances on Good Morning Australia and In Melbourne Today they have performed live to air on Derek Guille’s evening show on 774 ABC Melbourne and Jazz On Saturday on PBS FM.

In 2004 they released the album “Songs We Know” a CD of Jazz Standards featuring Voice & Guitar.

Margot and Tim contributed their original songs to the album by Moonlight Drive entitled “At the Famous Blue Raincoat”, produced with the assistance of Arts Victoria. Margot also features on the recently released debut CD recorded by Melbourne’s swinging Esstee Big Band.

Margot Leighton

An experienced singer and performer, Margot Leighton has been dedicated to her craft for over 30 years.
More than just a singer Margot is a passionate and professional musician, committed to furthering her ability and knowledge.
With a BA Music Industry (RMIT), a Diploma of Education in Classroom and Instrumental Music (Melbourne) and a Dip Music Performance (NMIT) her qualifications cover many areas.
Experience in Television, Radio, Recording, Musicals and Stage testify to her versatility as a performer.

Margot is a resident vocalist with the esstee Big Band; one of Melbourne’s fine jazz big bands.

Margot uses her professional talents extensively in the classroom where she teaches music in an esteemed Melbourne High School.

She performs regularly in a variety of ensembles including a capella ensembles as well as trios and quartets, playing with some of Melbourne’s finest musicians including The Daryl McKenzie Jazz Orchestra. She has sung the National Anthem at Olympic Park before a packed stadium.

In the near future Margot intends to release an album of completely original work with her partner Tim and also improve on her piano skills.

Tim Nikolsky

Versatility, passion and dedication are what Tim Nikolsky brings to his music.
As well as being an accomplished guitarist, his abilities extend to arranging, composing, recording, and teaching.

Tim is a well rounded, professional musician with a BA Music Industry, Advanced Dip. Contemporary Music and a Grad. Dip. Education (Music), Tim is well qualified in a variety of musical areas.

Tim is a musician who is well prepared to take on anything in the music industry: From event management, organising gigs, promotional strategies, sound engineering, professional development, conducting workshops, rehearsing and organising ensembles, website design, recording, arranging, composing, mastering, producing, post-production, film, television, radio and advertising.

In 1996, he won the Highest Achieving Contemporary Guitarist award for Year 12 Music Performance: Solo.
In 1999, he won the Manny's scholarship for academic excellence at NMIT.

Tim's abilities extend much further than just being a guitarist. As well as being a bass player, his performance experience includes working with music from 15th century baroque to 20th century techno. For Tim, all music is exciting and interesting.

Tim has extensive performance experience in a wide variety of ensembles.

Tim has played with The Australian Pops Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Concert Hall.

Presently Tim has taken a break from Full-Time guitar teaching in schools to be an Audio-Visual Technician.

In the near future he intends to release an album of completely original work with his partner Margot and also improve on his Double Bass playing skills.
