Mezz Mt Hawthorn Primary School Community Fair

SUCCESSFUL.  Outstanding day, brilliant effort by so many in the School community.  Raised a total of $55,000.

Magical Memories – 100th Anniversary Art Project   Grant Application

 

SUCCESSFUL & ONGOING.  Grant funds have been obtained.  The project will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Campus with a journal, Art exhibition and installation.

Painting Bee – JPS Front Office

SUCCESSFUL.  Co-ordinated painting bee.  Front Office area painted and refurbished.

Demolition Bee - Old Bike Shed

SUCCESSFUL.  Co-ordinated demolition Bee.  Old Bike Shed demolished, site cleared and timber recycled.

Prepared Submission to justify Resource Centre

SUCCESSFUL.  ($450,000).  Minister for Education & Training.  Harbeck Resource Centre now completed.  First classes held in the Centre on 08 Mar 06.

Prepared submission to justify additional facilities at the Campus

SUCCESSFUL.  (est. $1,000,000).  Minister for Education & Training.  Master plan complete.  Admin. Block & Toilets approved in the 2006/2007 Capital Works program.  Construction work is due to start before the end of 2006.

Lobbied Town of Vincent re inappropriate allocation of parking to Dept. Sport & Recreation outside Margaret Kindy

SUCCESSFUL.  Parking restrictions at Loftus Centre removed by Town of Vincent.

Lobbied Town of Vincent for funding for an upgrade at Margaret Kindy

SUCCESSFUL.  ($25,000).  Town of Vincent.  Softfall and paving installed, trees and new grass outstanding – this has been followed up with Town of Vincent.

Grant applications – Investing in Our Schools program 2005

SUCCESSFUL.  Dept of Education (Cth).  $50,000 grants for Senior School (playground) and $18,000 grant for Junior School (laptops) were obtained.

Grant applications – Investing in Our Schools program 2006

ONGOING.  Dept of Education.  Project teams have been meeting and will submit two applications for grants totalling $180,000.  Senior School (Computers & resources for library), Junior School (Playground upgrade).  Grants close on 29 Mar 06.

Grounds Committee Master Plan

SUCCESSFUL.  The GSC working closely with the P & C Exec. to develop a master plan for the site.  This work is now complete.

Uniform Shop

SUCCESSFUL - ONGOING.  an excellent new and second hand uniform service is provided to the School Community.

Canteen

SUCCESSFUL - ONGOING.  an excellent Canteen service is provided to the School Community 5 days per week - Lunch & Morning Tea.  The Canteen is now staffed by paid workers.

Fundraising

SUCCESSFUL - ONGOING.  Grants totalling $20,886 were made to the Schools in 2005.  A draft budget for 2006 will see the P & C spend approximately $80,000 on the School Community.

Safety House Scheme

SUCCESSFUL - ONGOING.  The Scheme operates effectively in our suburb.  New houses are being added.

Lobbied Council re Buxton Street crossover.

SUCCESSFUL.  Town of Vincent allocated funding to fix this matter.

NiETA Award Nominations.

SUCCESSFUL.  Susan Cromb and Cindy Smart were both nominated.  Cindy Smart was also awarded a NiETA Community Award.

P & C Executive & Sub-committees are self funding

SUCCESSFUL - ONGOING.  Executive and sub committee members pay for their own stationary, telephone calls, travel, stamps, printer cartridges etc.

Roadwise Bin Stickers

SUCCESFUL.  Proposal for a trial actively supported and P & C Exec. Members volunteered to place stickers on bins.

Premier's Teaching Awards

SUCCESSFUL.  Susan Cromb was nominated and made it to the second round of the Award.
