Greetings from america. What a neat website glowing with all kinds of pride.
I was your 1000 vistor some time ago and really enjoy returning to this site for the chat with the author.
Autistically speaking I glad to remember thanks to Tony my long forgotten 2-d picture thought process and how it makes an autistic's life easier. For the record my usual thoughts are 3-d.

Tony,
Thank you for your article on Autism.
You have a wonderful insight to yourself and I
appreciated reading it on behalf of my 16 year old son.
May I ask how old you were when you were diagnosed
and why that hadn't happened earlier?
Thank you again
Bev.

Tony
I would like to congradulate you on your achievments with your home page.
We are new to the "Web" (2 weeks).
Could you possibly help me with locating educational resources for my 12 year old son Ryan.
Ryan has been diagnosed with severe Asperger's and ADHD about 5 years ago by Drs Brian Ross and Tony Attwood, and the Autistic Association of Qld.
This has since been revised to Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Ryan has spent the last three and a half years at the autistic centre at sunnybank and is now being integrated back into the mainstream education system via special education units.
This will be done at Capalaba State school which contains both primary and high schools on it's campus.
He will start high school next year and I am very interested in getting software that will help him in his future studies.
He still, at the moment, requires this in an entertaing and amusing format.
We would appreciate any help that you could give us.
We live in Brisbane.
With thanks Graeme and Carmen Clough.

Hi, Tony (or G'day as you'd say)
I live in New Jersey in the USA and I work as a learning consultant here with children ages 3yrs to about 14 who are faced with many different kinds of educational challenges. Recently, because, I guess, there is more 'known' about the condition and,
consequently published, I have noticed more 'autistic' or PDD-NOS chldren being referred to our chld study team for evaluation. Although I have a master's degree, I needed to read up on these syndromes as I finished graduate school about a decade ago
when less info was available. My quest has spilled onto the internet and brought me in touch with a lovely young woman, Lil, whose older son has austism and younger boy has some emotional challenges. Anyway, it was through visiting her site that I
came upon yours. I'm basically writing in your guestbook to let you know how, both professionally and personally, INSPIRED I was by your 'story'. Delivered in an articulate, sensitive and informative manner as it is, I'm sure many who read your acco
unt will be as moved as I.
I wish you the best in dealing with all the challenges that lay before you. I know you will rise above everything negative you encounter, for you are strong and GIFTED!

Tony, ever thought about getting in touch with the
Channel 31 consortium Bent-TV, which deals with
gay/lesbian issues? Volunteers can produce their
own stories / pursue their own interests etc.
Gay or sexually confused (and I do mean CONFUSED)
people on the autistic spectrum would be a fascinating
topic.

Hello Tony Both my kids, a girl and a boy, are autistic. The girl is also otherwise disabled, and she is bright but difficult and needs a lot of atttention. The boy is very sweet and understanding and quite easy to reason with. I´m 41 years old, lesbian or bi, - I don`t know if I`m autistic too, I don`t really think so, even though I can recognice many things and for sure have difficulties dealing with people. I `m educated to teach in moving and relaxation, and to teach in swimming for disabled I work freelance, and I`m very happy with my work. Nearly all my work is with disabled, mentally retarded, or psyk. patients. And a lot of them are autistic or with related difficulties. I feel at home with this group. Nearly all my energy goes with working or keeping house and meeting the kids needs. I live together with the kids father, and all the four of us are actually having a good time together. I had a loving friend viciting me last Christmass, and I fell in love with her again. It feels as if I`m finally out of the most severe longing for her. And I think I should go out and find myself a lover. But I`m not very happy about telling I live with a man, and I tend to be attracted to very difficult people and end up heartbroken. I was happy to find your page, to know that there is someone like you out there. Gay and different. Greetings from Dorte

My 2 year old son was diagnosed yesterday (04-jan-1999) as having Autistic traits.I have been told that a firm diagnosis can be made in about 6 months. However, the traits he has are numerous and include* Repressed speech and communication skills* Repetitive play* Fascination with * geometric shapes such as stars the moon and signs. * Objects such as taps, hoses and gates. * Numbers. It is 5am in the morning and not surprisingly I haven'thad any sleep.I am scared as I don't know if I can be everything that my beautiful son needs. However your story gaveme hope and I invite (maybe plead) anyone out therefor support at this time.I am a resident of Sydney Australia, 37 years old withan amazing wife who is a real tower of strength.

Hi TonyI'm also Tony Langdon! I was trawling the Net doing some research for a job interview and eventually got bored, so I searched for my own name and that's how I found your site. :-)I live in the UK and am a Systems Engineer. I was actually born in Australia, in Adelaide. But as I left Aus. in 1965, aged 8 months, I can't say I remember much about it. I'm also adopted, my adoptive parent's surname is Langdon, so I guess there's no chance we're related.Anyway, I'll let you get on with your life now that I've let you know there's another Tony Langdon out there (like you cared). Best wishes with the Web Page and keep smiley'ing.:-) (-:

Hi, Tony,I used to save ppl's web addresses on little bits of paper, never really going to them. But now I have this snazzy new 'puter that makes a link out of every address it sees and I can sit here in my grungy sweats and slippers and click all the way to Melbourne! All the way from a gloomy winter's day in Michigan, USA.Cool, huh? Your photo is not far off how I imagined you. Thanks for doing this page.Love,Jean

Hi, I am Christoph, a German living and working in Switzerland. Seems that 15 years after coming out as gay, I am becoming conscious of being an AS also. Perhaps you or another guest can provide me some info on that subject. Most literature (especially in German) is on children; there doesn't seem to be much for adults. AS seems to explain about all peculiarities I experienced so far (at 43), but I am not really sure.

Dearest Tony,Your page was very rewarding to read. I am a Buddhist priestfrom America. I have a dual diagnosis of Tourette Syndrome andAsperger's autism. I am also gay.Due to my vow of celibacy, I have no relationship issues to handle. That way I am open to my 'congregation' and their troubles.I was startled to see your page. Very happily so. (Now you know one othergay autistic!)Best of luck. Do write to me when you can.

Loved your personal story - and can identify with it strongly. I wonder if there is something similar to the Grow group in London? My story is a little different, but does involve the theme of social isolation, and inability to get on with others, ostracisim and persecution at school. The resulting scars are still hard to deal with and seem to result in self-defeating behaviours etc.Thank you for your wonderful web page!Gareth

Dear Tony, What a delight is your website! You trulyare model and an encouragment for all. If you possibly canfind the time, any info on the criteria thhat establishes a diagnosis, I will be very grateful! I saw myself in the responses from "Gareth" in the u.k. and Christoph Kessler. I was horrendously abused emotionally from grade 1 -10 in school. Anyway I came out of it so damaged that suicide attempts have been frequent and much dysfunction. I am currently 2 yr's "clean" after more than a decade of steady amphetamine use, and find myself unable to get it right irregardless. Sorry I rambled. Mal is lucky to have you! Sincerely, Michael
