Helen As Death

Pen and ink illustration based on a photograph. Digital airbrushing. My dear friend Helen posed for a series of photos for me as "Death" from the writings of Neil Gaiman. I was chuffed with the pics but wanted them to be more surreal, so went for a slightly idealised illustration with fine hatching and really glossed up her hair and eyes. The digital airbrushing adds dimension. It's true that an artist has to fall in love with his/her subject to get the best from them.
