JaneJane had lots of dark hair which i knew would disappear into my dark backdrop, leaving her as a floating face. So i pegged a length of gold coloured material down the middle of the dark blue curtain. I then positioned Jane a good 3m in front if the drop so that it would be quite out of focus in the final shot. She was leaning on the back of a chair she was straddling, and i had her fiddle with her necklaces in order to bring her hands into the shot. Generally i think having hands in any shot make it more interesting and personal. I used a single bright light on her face so that the right side of the photo disappeared into shadow. I also used a second light, hidden behind her, pointing up at the gold fabric. I love catching people in an unguarded moment, hence the reason i included the laughing one here. |
