VK3BIZ Packet Radio Activity
Packet Radio & SSTV.
I used to play Packet Radio in the early 80's. I build the TAPR TNC1 based on the 6809 and WD1933 HDLC chip. It operated at 1200Bd AFSK. These days it can be all done on the PC with sound card.
I have a number of Bridge Communications Ethernet to to serial boxes based on the 68000 and Z8530 SCCs.
I thought I may be able to use them for packet radio as a hub under Linux or similar They use the old AM7990 Lance with an AUI connector on the back. The boxes support up to 10 serial ports at up to 9600 baud.
Bridge Communications 68000 project
The plan was to use Online Applications Research RTEMS and a BSD TCP/IP stack with LANCE and AM8530 drivers from Linux. Because RTEMS is big, and a little buggy, I thought I might use my own kernel with Tiny TCP-IP and a monitor program from Motorola, such as Tutor bug.
