Babies' First Bib
This bib is for a newborn baby.
1 ball Bedspread cotton + Contrasting thread for Edging.
1 yard satin ribbon, 1/4" wide.
Crochet hook size 7.
Row 1 : ch 27.
Row 2 : sc in first 13 ch, 2 sc in ch 14, sc in next 13 ch, turn.
Row 3 : sc in back loop of each sc, turn and rep row 2, increasing by 1 sc in every other row.
Continue working in back loops only for 27 rows - 13 ridges. Break off.
Row 1 : ch 20, ch 1 into ridge and ch one into hollow down side of bib, ch 2 in corner, follow across bottom, ch 2 in next corner, ch 1 in ridge and 1 in hollow up other side. Ch 20, turn.
Row 2 : sc in back loop all way around. Rep. 4 more times.
Scalloped Edge : Row 1 : with wrong side facing you - 1 dc in neckband, skip 1 st, 1 dc in next sc until corner, 2 dc in corner, 1 dc, 1 ch in every other sc all way around, 2 dc in corner.
Row 2 : ch 1, 5 dc, ch 1 all in one bar, sc in next bar and rep. around.
Edging of contrasting thread. 1 sc in each sc all way around. Finish by threading a ribbon through the bars, leaving enough for the ties.
