Beginning Shell ( beg shell ): ( sl st, ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc ) in first sp.
Shell: ( 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc ) in next ch sp.
Picot: ch 3, sl st in third ch from hook.

FIRST WING: Row 1: Leaving a 2" end ( for Antennae ), ch 8, ( dc, ch 1, 2 dc ) in fourth ch from hook, * skip next ch, ( 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc ) in next ch ( shell made ), rep from * turn. ( 3 shells ).
Row 2: Sl st in first 2 sts, beg shell in ch sp of first shell, ( ch 2, shell in ch sp of next shell ) 2 times, turn.
Row 3: Sl st in first 2 sts, beg shell in first shell, ( ch 3, sc in next ch 2 sp, ch 3, shell in next shell ) 3 times, turn.
Row 4: Sl st in first 2 sts, ( sl st, ch 3, 2 dc, picot, 3 dc ) in first shell, * ch 3, sc in next sc, ch 3, ( 3 dc, picot, 3 dc ) in next shell, rep from * turn. Fasten off.
SECOND WING: Row 1: Working in rem lps on opposite side of starting ch on row 1 of First Wing and leaving a 2" end
( for Antennae ), join with sl st in fourth ch of ch 8, ( ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2  dc ) in same ch as sl st ( shell made ), * skip next ch, ( 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc ) in next ch ( shell made ), rep from * turn. ( 3 shells ).
Rows 2-4: Rep rows 2-4 of First Wing.
Finishing: Dampen Butterfly with fabric stiffener, place on surface to dry, making sure the 2" ends for antennae lay flat.
