
Dress Potholder
Materials 3 oz worsted weight yarn - 2 different colours
Crochet hook size H
Measurments: 7 + 1/2" tall and 11 + 1/2" wide corner to corner of skirt.
1" plastic ring.
With main colour work 24 sc into ring. Join with
a sl st to front lp of first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc). Hdc in front
loop of next 17 sc, ch 1, turn work to back and hdc in back lps of 18 sc
just worked. Join with sl st to top of ch2 (36hdc).
Rnd 3: ch2, *2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next hdc;
rep from * around, remembering to work in the ch 1 sp also. End by working
sl st in top of starting ch 3 (57hdc).
Rnd 4: ch 2, hdc in each st around, join with
sl st to top of ch 2 (57hdc).
Rnd 5: Rep Rnd 4, changing to alt. colour when
joining to top of ch 2 with sl st (57hdc).
Rnd 6: (ch 4, trc, ch 1, 2 trc) all in joining
st. *sk 2 hdc (2 trc, ch 1, 2 trc) in next hdc (trc shell made). Rep from
* around ending by joining to top of ch 4 with sl st (19trc shells).
At this point flatten down your work. Find the
points of the shoulders. The 3rd space between shells on both the front
and back will be the side edge of the skirt. You will have 4 shells in
the front skirt, 5 shells in the back skirt. The 5 remaining shells on
either side form the sleeves. The space between the centre shells in the
front will be your starting point.
Rnd 7: In sp described above, join main colour
with sl st on hook, ch 3, *(2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch 1 sp of trc shell (dc
shell made), dc in sp between shells. Rep from * once, working last dc
in both thicknesses (i.e. front and back) making sure you have divided
front, back and sleeves as described above. Turn work over to back and
work dc shell in ch 1 sp of trc shell, dc in space between shells, re from
* 4 times, working last dc in both thicknesses. Turn work over to front
again and work dc shell in sp of trc shell, dc in sp between shells, dc
shell in ch 1 sp of trc shell, dc in sp between shells, dc shell in ch
1 sp of trc shell, join to top of ch 3 with sl st.
Rnd 8: Sl st between dc and dc shell, ch 3; *dc
shell in ch 1 of dc shell, dc between dc shell and dc, dc between dc and
dc shell. Rep from * around ending by joining with sl st to top of ch 3.
Rnd 9: Sl st between dc and dc shell, ch 3, *dc
shell in ch 1 of dc shell, dc between dc shell and dc, dc between next
2 dc, dc between next dc and dc shell. Re from * around ending by joining
with sl st to top of ch 3.
Rnds 10-13: Work pattern as established. This
means that you will work a dc shell in the ch 1 sp of each dc shell in
the previous rnd, and dc between dc's and dc shell. This will increase
your dc between the dc shells and one each rnd. Draw through alt. colour
and sl st when finished Rnd 13.
Rnd 14: Ch 1, work sc in each st around and 3
sc in each ch 1 sp of dc shell. Fasten off.
