Easter Egg Covers

Crochet cotton size 10 - 20 yds., small amounts green, red, yellow and black.
Steel crochet hook size 8.
6" of 1/8" wide ribbon.
Cosmetic puff.
Size 2" x 2"
Head measures 1" diameter. HEAD (make 2): Rnd 1 (right side): With MC, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st to join. (6).
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around, sl st to join (12).
Rnd 3: Rep. Rnd 2 (24).
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, sl st to join and fasten off.
Do NOT fasten off 2nd head section.
Rnd 5: With wrong sides together, working through both thicknesses, sl st in next 20 sts, do not fasten off.
BODY: Row 1 (right side): Ch 1, 2 sc in each next 8 rem. sc of head, turn (16).
Row2: Ch 1, 3 sc in first sc, (2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc) 7 times, 3 sc in last sc, turn (27).
Row 3: Ch 1, 3 sc in first sc, sc in each next 25 sc, 3 sc in last sc, turn (31).
Rows 4-9: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn. Fasten off. Insert 1 cosmetic puff into head.
EYES (make 2): With length of black cotton, working through Rnd 3 at front of Head, embroider 1 French knot on each side of Head.
BEAK: With yellow cotton, leaving a 2" length at beg. ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook, leaving a 2" length of cotton, fasten off. Attach Beak to centre front of Head.
COMB: Note - Comb is worked on each section of Head.
Working across centre top 7 sc sts on first sections of Head over Rnd 4, attach red cotton with a sl st, *(hdc, 2 dc and 1 hdc in next sc, sl st in next sc) 3 times*, turn, working on 2nd section of Head, sl st in sc opposite last sl st on first section, rep from *to* once, fasten off.
TAIL: Row 1: Attach MC in side edge of Row 1 of Body, ch 1, working through both thicknesses, work 9 sc evenly sp down side edge of body, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Working in front lps of Row 1, sc in first st, (5 dc in next st, sc in next st) 3 times, turn, working in rem free lps of Row 1, sc in st opposite last sc on opposite side, (5 dc in next st, sc in next st) 3 times, fasten off.
WINGS (make 2): Row 1 (right side): With MC, leaving a 6" length at beg. ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, turn (5).
Row 2: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Sc in first sc, 5 dc in next sc, working in front lp of next st only, sc in front lp of next st, 5 dc in next sc, sc in last sc, ch 1, turn.
Row 4: Work 10 dc in rem free back lp of sc at centre of Row 3, sl st in end sc, fasten off. With rem length of cotton at beg and yarn needle, sew 1 Wing to each side of Body.
NEST: Rnd. 1: Attach green cotton in Row 9 at centre back of Body at base of Tail, ch 1, sc in next 14 sc, dec 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in next 15 sc, sl st to join in beg sc (30).
Rnd 2: Ch 1, (sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc) 15 times, sl st to join in beg sc, fasten off.
FINISHING: With rounded end of front of Body, insert foil-wrapped egg. Tie a ribbon in a bow around neckline.
