Gilded Clutch
Materials+ J&P Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen, Article A.64-M size 10 = 2 balls.
Steel crochet hook size 7.
Lining fabric: 7" x 13".
1 + 1/2 yds, size 100 upholstery cord.
One 2" tassel (purchased)
3 x 13mm snaps.
Size: 6 + 1/4" x  6 + 1/2", excluding handle.
Gauge 5 groups of (sc, ch 3, sc) in patt = 1 + 1/2".
6 rows in patt = 1".

Directions: Ch 42 loosely.
Row 1: (right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * ch 3, skip 1 ch, sc in next ch * rep from * to * across (20 loops), turn.
Rows 2- 80: Ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in each loop across. (20 loops), turn.
Note: Piece should measure approx. 14"( from beg.)
Shape Flap: Row 81: Ch 1, sc in first ch 3 loop (dec), (sc, ch 3, sc) in each loop across to within last loop, sc in last loop (dec), turn.
Rows 82-89: Rep Row 81 (2 loops rem at end of Row 89).
Row 90: Ch 1, 2 sc in first ch 3 loop, ch 3, 2 sc in next ch 3 loop. Fasten off.
Assembly: With wrong sides tog. fold bottom edge of Purse up 6". Holding Flap side to the back and pointing to the left, join yarn 1/8" from lower right corner of Purse, working through double thickness, ch 1, sc evenly up side of Purse, (sc, ch 3, sc) in each ch 3 loop across side edge of Flap to centre point, 2 sc in next ch 3 loop, insert hook through hanging loop of tassel and complete sc, 2 sc in same ch 3 loop at centre point, (sc, ch 3, sc) in each ch 3 loop across other side of Flap, then working through double thickness again, sc evenly across rem side of Purse to within 1/8" of lower edge. Fasten off.
Handle: Cut upholstery cord to desired length plus 13". With front of Purse facing, insert 1/2" of one end of cord through 1/8" opening at lower corner. Sew cord over sc sts along side of Purse. Rep for other side.
Finishing: Fold lining in half with right sides facing, making a rectangle 6 + 1/2" x 7". Using 1/2" seam allowance, sew down each edge. Turn top edge of fabric down 1/2" to wrong side and press in place. With wrong sides facing, insert lining into Purse. Sew folded edge to top of Purse. Sew 3 snaps evenly spaced, across inside of Purse 1/4" below top of edge of lining.
