Ruffled Basket

Materials DMC Cebelia #10, 1 ball each white and blue. (makes 2 baskets).
Steel crochet hook size 7.
13 oz coffee can for form.
3 yds. x 1/8" satin ribbon, 2 silk roses.
Measurements : 6" in diameter x 8 + 1/2" high.
Gauge = first 2 rnds = 1 + 1/2" in diameter.
Shell = (3 tr, ch 2, 3 tr ) in same sp.
Start with ch 3 instead of first dc or ch 4 instead of first tr of rnd. End with sl st. BASKET : With white, ch 1 + 4 (first tr).
Rnd 1: 14 tr in 5th ch from hook (15 tr).
Rnd 2: (2 tr, ch 1) in each tr around.
Rnd 3: Sl st to first ch 1 sp, (2 tr, ch 2, 2 tr) in each ch 1 sp around.
Rnds 4 - 5: Sl st to first ch 2 sp, shell in each ch 2 sp around. Fasten off whitel.
Rnd 6: Join blue in first ch 2 sp, shell in each ch 2 sp around.Fasten off blue.
Rnd 7: Join white in first ch 2 space, rep Rnd 6.
Rnds 8 - 12: Rep Rnd 4.
RUFFLE: Rnd 13: Sl st to first ch 2 sp, (tr, ch1) 13 times in each ch 2 sp around.
Rnd 14: (tr, ch 2) in each tr around.
Rnd 15: sl st to first ch 2 sp, ch 1, (sc, ch 10) in each ch 2 sp around. Fasten off white.
Rnd 16: Join blue in first ch 10 loop, ch 1, (sc, ch 5) in each ch 10 lp around. Fasten off white.
HANDLE: With white, ch 1 + 3 (first dc). Row 1: (right side): (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in 4th ch from hook.
Rows 2 - 32:Sl st to first ch 2 sp, (2dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch 2 sp, turn. Fasten off white at end of last row.
BORDER: With right side facing, join blue around the post of first st in Row 32, ch 1, (sc, ch 5) in each row end dc across side, sc in last row end dc.Fasten off. With right side facing, join blue around the post of first row end dc in Row 1, rep Border on opposite side of Handel. Fasten off.
FINISHING: Cover coffee can with plastic wrap. Soak Basket in stiffener and put over can. To form Ruffle, gather Rnd 16 at the base of each shell of Rnd 11 and secure with matching thread. Fan top of ruffle outward. Attach Handle at base of Rnd 15 and weave ribbon through shell sps. Glue on silk roses.
