INTRODUCTION
Coca leaves
contain alkaloids derived from ecgonine, including
cocaine, cinnamylcocaine (cinnamoylcocaine),
a-truxilline
and
β-truxilline. Alkaloids such as hygrine, hygroline and
cuscohygrine, which are based on the structure of
hygrine, are also constituents of coca leaves.
Tropacocaine and other alkaloids based on the structure
of φ-tropine are also present.4
