This story of another "claimant" is not so well known in the English speaking
world as the Tichborne Saga but is even more interesting.
The crucifixion of Jesus Christ occurred in about 30 AD. The Bible describes his body
being placed in a tomb but disappearing. He then appears before a number of people and
finally ascends into Heaven.
Now to events described in Kashmiri history.
There are several books written about this subject; an internet search will find some of
them.
In about 30 AD a charismatic preacher with the name of Yuz Asaf arrived in Kashmir from
Israel with his mother, Mary. (Though some believe it was not his mother but Mary
Magdalene, his wife).
Yuz Asaf was also known as Issa.
Yuz Asaf can mean "The Healer" or
"The Shepherd, the one who teaches others" while Issa was the local name for
Christ.
Yuz Asaf claimed that he was Jesus Christ !
Kashmiri history states that "The Healer" came from Israel to spread his
teaching. His message was basically the Buddhist philosophy of love for one another and to
turn the other cheek rather than the Jewish doctrine of an eye for an eye.
Yuz Asaf
died when he was about 80 and is buried in Srinagar, Kashmir. On his tomb is a carving of
his feet, they show marks similar to the nails of a crucifixion.
Mary is buried near a mountain called Pindi Point, on which is an old tomb called
"Mai Mari da Asthan" or "The final resting place of Mary".
The question arises, was Yuz Asaf an impostor or did Jesus Christ survive the crucifixion
and travel to Kashmir with his mother or wife?
