Gladiator RANK=983

Category : Not Sure
Description :
Ridley Scott, you are God.
Russell Crowe, you are God on Earth.
Gladiator is an enthralling movie, gripping you with it's calculated combination of superb cinematography, high-octane violence, stirring music, and wrenching drama.
This is not merely an action movie.

Crowe is a general in the roman army, oh bugger it, I can't be bothered explaining the plot... which isn't exactly complicated or even important, just see it!

There's so much that is good in this movie. I can't pick a single fault with it - there's not even a tiny little snide remark to be made about this... this... masterpiece.

I can't quite bring myself to rank it above hallowed works such as Star Wars, but that's how good it is.

Go RANK=683

Category : Comedy
Description :
Funny (and at times sad) movie about some teen-on-twenties who are in some way or another involved in a drug deal that goes wrong. Told from three different points of view, the style is similar to Tarantino's mixed-up format that we all know so well.
Some great scenes, and acting is good all over I think.
Tantra baby, yeah!

Godzilla RANK=491
Size matters (1998)
Category : Action
Description :
Little lizard + nasty atomic fallout = big nasty lizard.
Stop me if you've heard this one before! :-)
We all know what's going happen in general, but as an action movie this is not too bad.
Very memorable Apache chase scene near the end. The ending is also quite sad, which suprised me because somehow this movie makes you care about the beast just like the classic Godzillas were supposed to.
Actually, on second thought, maybe the ending is sad because Godzilla dies before (s)he's had a chance to REALLY do some damage - or show some character!

Matthew Broderick is in it, looking as Bueller as he can but without actually succeeding.

Pet hate has to be the bloody stupid American reporter chick who scowls at the news report and says "Anyway! It's not pronounced 'Godzilla', it's 'Go-Chilla' !" Fucking yanks can't even pronounce English properly so it beats me why any of them ever try to pronounce any other language. Does this dizzy dame not understand that intonation is at least as important as spelling? Grrr!

Also a rather large plot hole is that the first sighting was in Tahiti (in the south Pacific) but the monster next turns up in New York. Gee, I guess it must have taken the long way around North America. :-)

Goldmember RANK=300
Austin Powers 3
Category : Comedy
Description :
Just a load of toilet humour and anatomy jokes.
I guess there are a couple of funny lines, but I don't know what they were.

Not as good as the 2nd one, and not even a scratch on the original Austin Powers (which was the best).

I don't know where Mike Myers got the idea for the Dutch charater from, but it is the worst Dutch impersonation I have ever seen (not that one sees too many).

I really don't have any respect left for Mike Myers since I realised that he has been making the exact same jokes since "So I Married An Axe Murderer" back in the mid nineties. He has not had an original thought since then.

I was hoping this new Austin Powers would be different, but it is just another piece of Hollywood production line crap.

Gone in Sixty Seconds RANK=170

Category : Action
Description :
Entire movie summarised in sixty letters:
"Retired car thief accepts major theft job to save his brother; gets girl."
Nicholas Cage is the star ace car theif, whose character has an utterly ridiculous American name.
Angelina Jolie is there to give her voluminous assests some excercise, and not for much else.
The movie tries to build up to the moment when Nick has to steal a Shelby GT500. Maybe it's a generational thing, but this Shelby GT500 just looks like a pile of shit. It seriously does not look like a car that a thief would aspire to stealing. He may as well have stolen a Datsun Ute for all I care.

Goonies RANK=452

Category : Adventure
Description :
Ahh! Fond memories of this kid's movie made by da `Berg.
Funny, fun, inventive.
Some kids go hunting for pirate treasure and ... they find it!
There's some generic Bad Guys that get in the way, and also some really cool gadgetry involved in the boobytraps and also by the smart chinese kid.

Gothika RANK=374

Category : Thriller
Description :
A psychiatrist driving home in the rain swerves to avoid a girl standing in the road. When approached, the girl transforms into a burning ghost and invades the shrink's mind.
The psychiatrist, played by Halle Berry, awakens to find herself in a role reversal. She's now the chief suspect in the murder of her husband and is imprisoned in the same mental institution that she worked at - and has to share the shower room with her former patients.

Creepy and sufficiently paced.

Saw this on a plane going from London to Tokyo.
