BLIND AWAKENING
I wake up every morning, |
Just as the sun is dawning, |
I feel the heat of day on my face, |
And I hear the birds sing, |
But I don't see a thing, |
Cos my world is a dark empty space. |
|
I know when you're here, |
I can sense that you're near, |
But I'd rather see you instead, |
How I wish I could, |
But my eyes are no good, |
They're just useless sockets in my head. |
|
CHORUS: |
I can't look at the flowers, |
I can't see the pouring rain, |
I'm blind to all of this beauty, |
But not blind to hatred and pain. |
|
If only I could see, |
What changes there'd be, |
I'd paint every scene on the earth, |
My bondage would cease, |
I'd get my release, |
In a world thats been darkness since birth. |
|
|
I have to stop, |
In this sheltered workshop, |
I can't roam about, |
I want to hit the street, |
I've got people to meet, |
But they just won't let me out. |
|
CHORUS: |
I can't look at the flowers, |
I can't see the pouring rain, |
I'm blind to all of this beauty, |
But not blind to hatred and pain. |
