BOB'S BULLETIN

Finally have the chance to update Bob's Bulletin. It's been quite awhile coming but we have been busy moving the shop back up to Whiteside and on a personal note getting over a shoulder injury which happened on one of those
2 wheeled motorcycles or as the wife refers to them "death-traps". Anyway all going along great so in a few more weeks should be back to normal. For those unaware, we took the decision at the end of April to move and relocate the business back home from where it all began 12 years ago. This will enable us to concentrate on what I believe we do best and that is training the best divers possible. Although never been into large groups of students we can now offer more tailored courses to suit our student needs. Maximum numbers of 4 students per instructor ensures you won’t get left behind when you are learning to become a scuba diver. Training courses will be more flexible with pool and theory being able to be done mid-week or during the evening.
Our new location is based at 1087 Dayboro Road in Whiteside and transport can be arranged between Petrie and the shop if you do not have your own transport. It seems like the winter that never really happened is now well and truly behind us. Over this last month we have had terrific diving offering some of the best dive sites on the east coast of Australia. The colder water normally associated with this time of year just did not arrive and divers are still enjoying a mild 23 degrees underwater during their dives. Visibility is much improved and sites such as Arizona, Las Vegas and Gotham City are regularly providing 30+ metres. During our dives to Flinders Reef over the past few weeks we had regular sightings of Grey Nurse Sharks which are amazing to watch. We have had numerous sightings of the Humpback Whales passing through on their yearly migration. The diving around Moreton Bay Marine Park never ceases to amaze me and certainly the dive reports of late seem to indicate there is no lack of life wether it is around the reefs or wrecks. Curtin Artificial Reef seems to get better and better as time goes on with huge schools of fish now taking up residence on or around the wrecks. We have now commenced our regular night dives either on Flinders Reef or on high tide at Curtin. Our open water course students have been enthralled with the fish life on Flinders Reef or the bus and other wrecks off Bulwer. Even the often-shy Moray Eels come out to play as soon as the divers descend. Our last weekend on Moreton with students doing Nav and Rescue was a great success and the diving was great with large yellowtail kingfish buzzing the divers out at the drop off. Blue Zone now has access to SuperCat every weekend and Ocean Cat every month throughout the year. I know we say it all the time but we truly believe that Ocean Cat and the new MV SuperCat are our best options. Both vessels have huge amounts of room with large stable dive platforms. This ensures there is always plenty of room on the dive deck when things get a bit hectic at the start of gear up time.
Both boats offer sensational smorgasbord meals and of course fresh hot water showers at the end of the dive. We know there are slightly cheaper options but we don’t believe sitting on the side of a rubber duck for a day, with soup or soggy sandwiches for lunch is much fun either, so if you have not been out on Ocean Cat or SuperCat why not venture out in the next few weeks and I am sure you will not regret it.

If you prefer live aboard weekends then our choice is Big Cat Reality. Join our loyalty programme for this vessel and you will receive your 5th trip FREE OF CHARGE.. that’s a saving on each trip of over a $100.

Our next overseas Diving Expedition is in March 2010 when we head off to Truk Lagoon again for a great 2 weeks of fantastic diving. See the home page for more details. If you are interested in joining us on any trips please call the shop on 07-32854829
