FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HSR TRAININGHealth & Safety representative, Committee & Responsible Officer training opportunities29/05/09 | Whyalla -- The proprietor of Southern OHS Solutions, Mark Braithwaite, is delighted to advise that Safework SA accredited Health and Safety Representative (HSR), Committee and Responsible Officer training is now available through TafeSA. Mark has become the first ever regional based trainer to be accredited to provide this essential training. Prior to this only seven Adelaide based providers were accredited to provide this range of training. "Through my industry contacts I have been aware that there has been a large need in having this training more accessible to the regional areas," Mark said. "To become an accredited provider of this training provides regional South Australia with more opportunities for health and safety representatives, committee members and responsible officers to access the training they need to perform the functions of these highly important positions in any organisation." Smaller regional areas are also set to benefit from this announcement because it means increased opportunities without the need to collate participant numbers with a whole lot of other organisations. "The fact is, TafeSA has a presence in all regions, and most larger country towns. In the past it may not have been possible for courses to be run in towns such as Kimba or Wudinna due to their location or inability to support Adelaide based training organisations recover the costs of the road trip. But given my location in Whyalla, all of a sudden these towns can access this training with minimal attendance requirements." Health & Safety Representative training is being scheduled from June 2009 with other Safework SA accredited training occurring as demand requires. To demonstrate the commitment TafeSA has to regional South Australia, Whyalla has been scheduled for the five day Level 1 HSR training on 31 August 2009 and Mount Gambier on 23 November 2009. Anyone interested in undertaking these courses should contact Mark through the Whyalla TAFE campus on 04111 49 796 or consult the Safework SA HSR training calendar.
