 | You choose the level of formality you wish to pursue |
 | Documentation that meets legislative and insurance compliance |
 | An external point of view from a qualified independent consultant |
 | A fresh pair of eyes often sees things which are overlooked internally |
 | A cost effective regular inspection and survey service |
OHS Legislative Audit
We can conduct a comprehensive audit of your premises to test compliance with
OHS&W legislation (most specifically the OHS&W Regulations). This
usually requires at least a day on site for most small to medium businesses and
time to compile the report afterward.
Our service is highly flexible and can be as formal or as informal as
required (and costed accordingly) with reports, recommendations and observations
(using photos) documented to the level of your requirements.
A legislative audit is extremely beneficial to demonstrate compliance (or
working towards it) to authorities such as Safework SA and WorkCover which will
reduce financial and other inconveniences that may otherwise be imposed.
It is also mandatory for all employers to audit and manage OHS&W under
legislation and this is a highly effective way of demonstrating this.
Other Audit & Survey Services
Our audit and survey services broadly cover the area of physical
workplace inspections. The difference between the two terms (audit
and survey) generally relates to the level of formality and evaluation desired.
 |
A survey relies on the use of checklists and a professional opinion on
workplace practices, and minimal follow up documentation, whereas |
 | an audit involves all of the above, plus cross referencing to
legislation and/or internal procedures to ensure they match, interviews of
staff, along with a
comprehensive report containing recommendations. |
Regular inspections provide an independent external view of your
workplace from a qualified professional. Often an outsider's point
of view can identify risks and hazards that are overlooked by those
familiar with their surroundings.
A range of audit and survey services are provided as follows:
- Housekeeping audits
- It all starts with good housekeeping! An audit is undertaken
of your housekeeping practices and uses photos to highlight
deficiencies and hazards observed. Housekeeping practice is the
most common cause of minor to moderate workplace injuries and
instilling a good culture within the organisation improves
productivity and minimises those injuries from occurring.
- Self Insured OHS Adequacy check
- This is a adequacy check carried out to determine the level of
conformance for self-insured organisations prior to a WorkCover
evaluation taking place. Often this mandatory adequacy check can
impose huge inconvenience and implied costs on an organisation in the
lead up to an audit. By having Mark come in and undertake the
check for you can save you time and money in the long run (as well as
improve your chances of demonstrating conformance in many
areas).
- OHS Management systems audit
- AS 4801/4804 audit and legislative compliance audits can be carried
out on your workplace to test the overall OHS Management systems you
have in place are effective.
- OHS&W Policy/Procedure audits
- Audits of policies and procedures to determine whether what is
written on paper is actually happening on the shop floor. If
there are discrepancies, we can work with you to decide whether work
practices must change or whether the documentation must change.
- Manual Handling risk management surveys/audits
- Observation based audits of how employees are undertaking manual
handling tasks and the likelihood of increased injury concerns from
not following appropriate and safe manual handling techniques.
- Office safety surveys/audits
- Physical surveys and audits of the office environment against
various AS which include ergonomic furniture, lighting, noise etc.
- Self Insured survey - pre-inspection
- Working through the Workcover Performance Standards we can provide a
survey of your organisation to see how it comes up and whether there
are any areas that need addressing prior to a Workcover
Inspection. This is most effective 6-12 months prior to a
Workcover audit and where costs can be saved in Workcover levies if
you address deficiencies.
- Workplace emergency response surveys/audits
- An audit of your workplace emergency response can be carried out to
test the effectiveness of your planning and emergency response
techniques, as well as whether your organisation meets relevant
Australian Standards in emergency planning.
- Security Assessments
- We are not a licensed security organisation so we cannot sell or
recommend products, but we can conduct security assessments of both
physical (eg: access) and document (eg: theft, confidentiality)
processes which can identify deficiencies and assist in keeping your
organisation more secure.
- Hazard Management surveys/audits
- This looks at your whole hazard management process and tests the
systems you have in place are effective in managing workplace risks
and minimising incidents/injuries.
- Incident Reporting surveys/audits
- We will check that your incident reporting process is working
effectively and that any procedures, policies or other processes you
have in place are being followed by employees and managers alike.
- Hazardous Substances surveys/audits
- This looks at your management of chemicals and other hazardous
substances in your workplace. We will audit your systems to
ensure that the OHS regulations are being met in relation to a number
of requirements which includes MSDS, storage, registers and risk
assessments.
