BURABYLLA

CATTERY

About Abyssinians

Fabled to be the oldest known domestic breed of cat, the 'Aby' is very affectionate, active cat that likes to perch on high places, including someone’s shoulder or the top of a bookcase.  Called at one time the "Bunny Cat" which is a reference to it's "ticked" coat which has a similar appearance to a wild rabbit.  This ticking is caused by the coloured banding on individual hairs and having dark tips.

Abys come in a variety of colours including Tawny, Cinnamon, Blue, Fawn and Silver. The semi-long haired variant of the Aby is the Somali, a recognised separate breed.  They have a wonderful voice which is more like a chirp than a cats meow.
