My name is Burnard Morey. I am a retired scientist, Management Consultant, and Therapist, with an on-going interest in Science, Stress, and Study. You'll find more about me by clicking on About the Author. As you'll discover, even though retired, I continue to be active in these three areas. In later pages I'll tell you more about these activities.

SCIENCE

For the last five years I have given a series of eight lectures on The Evolution of Scientific Thought in the Alexander Library, the state library in Perth, WA. The lectures are organized by The University of the Third Age, an extension service of The University of Western Australia.

STRESS

Having completed a Diploma in Clinical Therapy, I practiced as a therapist in Sydney for several years in conjunction with a Management Consulting practice. Once again, over the last three years, I have lectured for U3A at the Alexander Library on Understanding & Managing Stress. I have also published a manual, 'Beat Stress Before Stress Beats You', which is used as basis for the lectures.

   STUDY

Having been a student all my life, I have been  personally and professionally interested in the learning process, and the way mind and memory functions.

I have developed a model of the brain/mind system,  based on ideas from modern physics - consciousness, energy & resonance -  and applied these to memory, learning, and study. The result is published in a manual     'A student's Guide to Study, and Ultimate Success',  which is now in its its second edition.

While a description of the manual is on the 'publications' page of this web, a  more detailed review can be found on the website, http://www.memoryskills.com.au, and how you can obtain a copy, if you want one.  On page 6 of that web I periodically publish further information that may be useful for students of any age.

                                      Other Activities

Since retiring I have had the opportunity to do more reading, research, and writing.

One is an unpublished book about Belief. Not an ideological belief, such as politics or religion, but a state of mind powerful enough to create its own physical reality. This tends to be in keeping with some interpretations of modern Physics, and Quantum Mechanics, that see all reality, including our physical reality, as an expression of multidimensional consciousness.

Another unpublished essay is an examination of our Jury System of achieving justice. This is based more on behavioural psychology, and science. It discusses the jury, the justice system, the police and forensic work, and the media. It has a brief outline of the history of the jury system, and how it has helped evolve our unique form of democracy.

In 2001, Chemistry in Australia - the Journal of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute - published an article that I submitted on understanding and using intuition, as a means towards problem solving and creativity. A edited version is included as an appendix in the manual on Study Skills.

I have also written an  essay on the hazards of radioactive waste - its creation, and its disposal, particularly in Western Australia. Occasionally it has been the basis for a lecture.
