Report
In a good match the Hardfactory boys gave the Stickys 11 catches and we held onto 9 to see them all out for a modest 117. We went on to knock these off in fine style with 3 overs to spare for a noteable win. Hardfactory had twice this season sent us off the paddock in second place and so it was a good morning's work which has put us into the Plate Final next week against Tudor Hall Donnas, a team we in turn have beaten twice so far this summer but who have played well in the Plate comp and it promises to be a worthy final.

Matt Brock was in charge today and sent Hardfactory in at Moore Park 13 which was in good condition and not too dewy. Craig started the catching spree with only 9 on the board to give Jez his first of three but Catley at the other end was already looking dangerous for the Hard's and when a sharp chance to Aaron at point went down visions of groundhog day got a foot in the door and more so when Alex running backwards spilled another. But the bowlers kept at it and when four catches were snapped up without a backward glance things were on the up at a handy 5 for 76 after 12. The turning point however came in James's first over when Catley hooked a high quickish full toss towards Moore Park golf course only to see it disappear in the Admiral's mits on the boundary line. The batsmen stayed his ground and appealed strongly for a no-ball but the ump was not to be moved and he had to go. Had the cameras been there the re-plays would have been on the evening news both for the ball and the catch. To compound Hardfactory's woes the handy Sean Bundy was snapped up by Disneyland two balls later and it was suddenly 7 for 81 and looking good. McPherson then plucked one from the sky in a goalie-like leap and with then yet another to the Thespian the Stickys were stunned to realise that that was nine catches. So the honour board read Ilot 2, Thurling 2, Burton 2, and one each to Brock, McPherson, and Harvey. The bowlers, perhaps not quite believing this change of fortune, lifted to record only a single wide and a single no-ball, with Jez on top with 3 for 43 off 5, James a dramatic 2 for 8 off 2, Matt, a tight 2 for 13 off 5 and one-fors to the Hunter, the Admiral, and Alex.

So it was 118 to win with Goose and the Judge to lead the way against one of the best attacks in the 3rd grade as Salamone, Bundy, and Stewart were all leading flingers. It wasn't a done thing by any thinking. Angus in terms of his own standards was a bit scratchy but 19 was on the board before he chopped Bundy on. James by then was set and with Craig also looking solid, Salamone, Heffernan, and Bundy were being contained. Hardfactory's major weapon was Stewart and when he came on it was probably the make or break point. His first four balls were quick and bouncy and Goose had no option but to defend. The fifth was only slightly over-pitched but it was enough for him to jump on it and it sailed over the long-on boundary, It was one of the shots of the season without a doubt. Stewart got a bit back when Craig over-played one in his next over but the game had turned as Goose went on to 40 and Aaron and Knife showed no mercy with quick-fire 18s apiece including big sixes just to put the matter beyond doubt.

Sticky Moment: Nine catches - what a day!
