Report
Day 1: With Agnes in charge today (second prize after failing to make it into Mel's latest flic), the Stickys batted on a fine hot day at the Parade Ground, Centennial Park. Herself and the Knife put on a breezy 19 before a wardward swish saw the Saintly One caught in slips - which was of course a good deal less messy than the fate of the namesake but that's another story. The Raging Thespian (who sensitively plays the part of a roman sandal in said epic) looked promising but was cleaned up with one through the gate. Brocky was by now however batting with great flair and Petty Sessions must have been greatly relieved when he skied one on 38. Lindy came and went in even shorter time than his TV stardom and so Britney was sent out with instructions to hang about at all costs as the Stickys were 4 for 54 and a stand was needed. This he did to the letter and with Goose put on a much needed 38, but it came to an end when an errant Speirs drive was snapped up. Rock joined his old batting buddy and they took it along to 135 with JH wisely deciding to leave it to youth as his role in a partnership of 43 was a dozy 7. James was probably batting as well as he has all season and was going for everything but luck ran out with a big hook caught on the boundary. Jezza was picked up trying to push on and the Collector collected the hard luck story of the day when an attempted hook saw the ball caught up in his shirt and then drop on to a bail - a tough break. That was about it except for a cameo (it's cliche day today!) from the Admiral who started with a fine 4 and a few balls later lifted a mighty six with a superb on-drive and then calmly knocked the following head-high bumper just short of the leg boundary before being caught in the deep in the final over for 17and so the Stickys finished up on a useful 159 with JH and JJ not out. We await with much anticipation to see the deliberations of the Legal One as to what tactics will bring us victory when Petty Sessions face up next week.

Day 2: The Stickys self-destructed today with six dropped catches which gave the match to Petty Sessions pretty well on a plate. Robert had every reason to think he was jinxed in this game as after last week's misfortune when batting, today he watched two catches off the top PS batters go begging but he still finished with only 16 runs off 10 overs - a sustained effort. He along with Pete, Matt and Jacob toiled hard against the odds and it was good to see at least Pete and JJ get a wicket apiece but all deserved better. Angus, Craig, Simon and Menga tried to stem the flow but by then PS could see the finish line and that was that.

However, we now go into a Plate Round for those teams which did not make the semis and who knows - fame and fortune may be our lot yet before the door finally closes on Summer 2003-04.

Sticky Moment:

Day 1: The day belonged to Matt and James and had they been able to stay a bit longer 200 was definitely on. A special Sticky moment mention however goes to Simon who did not get out lbw.
Day 2: To painful to recall.
