O'Hanlon/Hislop 13, O'Hanlon/Holland 0, O'Hanlon/Lee 0* Innings declared closed at 8 for 233.

Report Day 1:
Great weather, ground not too bad (the wild flowers (plus the bees) were in full bloom in the outfield), but CACC started slightly behind the 8-ball in as much as James B. had a prang on the way to the ground and Craig also was unavailable for today's play. Lost the toss and took to the field with a 'winter' squad of 9 to cover 11 spots.

Off to a good start however with a smart caught behind off Angus's third ball in the second over. Then a good looking partnership of 53 had the Apaches back on track until another caught behind, this time off Peter O'Hanlon's first over with the club - worth every cent of his transfer fee. Smart move by Jeremy to bring him on. Two more solid partnerships followed with the Apaches clearly on top and cruising at 4 for about 140 at drinks.
A smart catch by Peter shortly after drinks however dramatically changed things and in a few overs Greg and Jeremy had gone through the tail with virtually no runs added. All out 144 and the match was back on.

Angus and Greg took to the crease. Calamity - Angus, out of touch from the winter break, was cleaned up with an outswinger. Gary looked good but Keith's finger went up after a long hard look at an lbw appeal. In the meantime Greg was on fire with customary hooks, cuts and drives. Aaron started cautiously as the temperature plunged and the wind got up but then came good with three boundaries chipped off his toes to leg. They took the score to 85 when with darkness looming Greg holed out looking to get as many as he could (as he is unavailable next week). Keith called a halt due to the light at that point and drew stumps with CACC 3 for 85, Aaron not out on 20, John yet to face. (JMH 15/09/02)

Report Day 2:
The outfield had been mown, weather superb. The immediate task was to get a Ist innings win. Aaron and John put their heads down and started well until John managed to hook a quickie to hole out at deep fly slip (quite a trick) but the base was well set. James Burrell and Aaron then took the team through the first innings win hurdle with Aaron going on to a very fine 52. James missed a drive to fall at 12. Peter and Craig pushed on in great style until Craig retired not feeling the best in the by now hot sun. Peter 29 n.o. at drinks. Jimmy Hislop holed out as did Jeremy but Meng stayed with Peter to allow him to make an excellent 50 and CACC had kicked off the season with an impressive 233 with several solid partnerships marking the innings.

The Apaches faced a deficit of 89 and as in the first innings Peter struck in his first over with bowled O'Hanlon caught Harvey. James Burrell (two) and Jeremy Holland (one) chipped in with wickets, Jimmy spun nicely but got hammered a bit, Angus got a fine catch at slip and with Apaches at 4 for 100, the skippers called it a day. Many thanks to Admiral Pete for filling in for Greg, and also to 'Sideline Eye' Tim S. who gave great spectator support.

A solid win to CACC and a great way to start the season. (JMH 22/09/02)
