Report:
The day began with JJ stepping into the helmsman's job with Jez sidelined with a bent ankle. He promptly won the toss and elected to bat on an excellent Booralee 5, a favourite ground for us. TV Man and The Judge looked very comfortable until 37 then a mini collapse with first The Judge, TV Man, and then In-Between back in the pit in the space of an over or so - 3 for 38. Help! Medic! and Numbers O'Hanlon got it to 55 before Help! Medic! succumbed terminally. The Mossie couldn't get to the crease quick enough and stroked a very smart 18 to halt the rot before biting himself with a lofted drive - 5 for 76, only just OK and some Stickys had the worry beads out. DK and Numbers played very well however before the Chief Sticky missed one - 6 for 124 after 33. Their partnership of 48 was the best CACC stand for the 6th wicket so far this season. The Rock joined Numbers and JH played a very laid back role while he let Numbers get on with it and they saw the innings through to the 40 overs with Stickys probably out of trouble at 6-161. Peter played a gem with 60 n.o.

The Admiral started the attack with a pretty healthly gale behind him and his third ball found the Junior's opener defending for his life, popping one up to silly mid-on. TV Man had the helmet on at silly point but no bother, he just launched himself across the wicket to snap it up. A Classic Catch for sure. Juniors then steadied with a partnership of 41 before the Admiral struck again and then he did it again to see the Juniors 3 for 50 with the game still poised, as they say. Numbers and DK came on and slowed the scoring rate impressively. Sliders, toppers, zappers, flippers, dippers, leggies, offies - the batsmen were clearly bewildered. Peter got two, DK was unlucky with a catch dropped and a close stumping knocked back. A very neat run out broke what looked like a possible concerning partnership and then the tail more or less folded with wickets to James T. in his Sticky debut, In-Between, and the Mossie just needed a single ball to wrap it up with Juniors calling it a day on 120 and first-innings points to CACC. J (7-2 field) J did a fine job as stand-in skipper. In passing it's maybe worth a note that when CACC played the Juniors in Round 2, Numbers and the Rock were also not out at the end of CACC's dig.

STICKY MOMENTS
Probably going from 0-36 to 3-38 was a bit sticky, then 5-76 wasn't too flash either, but steadying mid-order partnerships were just what were needed. Number's straight drive for six was the play of the day along TV Man's cross-pitch dive. The Admiral's 3-for and the Mossie's 1-for off 1 ball have got to rate a Sticky as well. Your correspondent was awarded a Sticky for not having any idea of where a skier went that would have near-landed on his head had not TV Man swooped in on it. And Lord Nelson has requested I note the following interplay between two Souths batters. Let one of these be known as "two hats" and the other as "his mate": Said his mate to two-hats after two-hats played and missed six successive balls from DK, "Did you learn anything from that?". Two-hats was up to the moment: "Yes, to stay away from your wife!". We didn't say a thing ...
