The Sea Bees are a non-profit social/fishing club whose members mainly fish from boats, hence the name "Boating Club". It is not essential to own a boat to visit or join our club, however most members do. The club began in 1974 and currently has about 80 members. There is a strong family focus with the opportunity for family members to attend indoor meetings, participate in the scheduled competitions, weekends away and social events. The
Club meets twice a month at the Roselea Community Centre, Carlingford,
on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. Doors open at around
7:45pm and the meeting starts at 8:00pm. The
club has a quite varied Outdoor program. Throughout the year the club
fishes locations such as Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River, The
Hawkesbury River, Cowan and Berowra, and Botany Bay. Weekends away are
organised to Wollongong, Nowra, Port Stephens and Swansea. We also fish
at freshwater locations such Lake Lyell, Glenbawn Dam and Wyangala Dam. Each year the club has 19 categories of competition. Trophies are presented to the winners annually at the presentation night. The main categories are freshwater, estuary, deep sea, children's, ladies, tagging, ANSA, open and champion of champions. The Sea Bees are Australian National Sportfishing Association affiliated and a number of club members fish the various A.N.S.A. conventions. |
